The only teams that would have had a chance were the Male team with Bobby Turner and the Griffith guy and the Ballard team that Frances mentioned.

 

You had to see them to understand how good they were. There is a common conception that the players of today are always bigger,faster and stronger than of the era of 30 years ago but these guys could play and were as athletic as any player that plays the game today.

I could put together a pretty good group of hackers from Noon Ball from the Ashland YMCA. OJ wouldnt be able to walk after playing against Jerry Daily and Perry Dalton. Oh yeah and the Hornbuckle guy would light them up, OJ would probably get some attorneys from Dewey Cheetam and Howe and sue the Ashland Y.........

How bad would they beat the Chris Loften led Mason Co. team that won the state title in 03' I believe??

Lafayette 1979 KY State Champs led by Dirk Minifield with Junior Johnson, Kenny Minifield, Curt Rose, and Tony Wilson.

I dont think they would beat them too bad, but what about the Chris Lofton led team in 04 that got upset against Warren Central, that WC team was tough, they could cause trouble for HH

I believe one of the Univ. Heights teams would have the best chance. Probably the ones with Barnes,Victor and Swanagan.

 

Some of those guys may have grown up in Hoptown but were not in the UHA school system until later. Private schools must recruit students...some just happen to be exceptional basketball players. UHA is a good example of this. A high school of 100+ has a great basketball tradition. This year UHA has a transfer from Nashville. He just happens to be 6' 10" and has a well known basketball family name of "Langhi". There may have been some transfers on those teams, I am not sure. This may or may not exclude UHA from the argument, with that being said, those UHA teams and some of the other UHA teams would be a worthy foe for Huntington.:thumb:

how about the 30-5 Antwan Barbour led E-Town state championship team of 2000? and the 32-3 1998 state champs Scott County, and 05 champs South Laurel, they went 32-4, and the defending state champs Jeffersontown, Ware and Coleman owned together, they went 32-3

I dont think that the Etown team or the JTown team would have even come close, although both teams did knock my school out of the state tournament both years en route to state titles.
