Also, great turnout at the game. A music festival, UL home game and the place was packed.

But he didn’t play. I’ve been around to many Trinity games, win or loss, when they are down during the game it’s always someone’s fault, not that the other team could be better. Now your coach is the issue (I understand how good Beatty was). Maybe Male was just better tonight.

I personally think the Trinity head coaching job was a situation where it's never an easy job to follow up the GOAT. And with coach Beatty, I would at least want to wait to be the guy who follows up the guy who replaces Bob Beatty. I still think it's pretty early to make any definite decisions about the quality of the hire...but everyone needs to at least give Coach Cobb the benefit of saying that Coach Beatty is quite possibly the hardest act to follow in the history of Kentucky high school football coaching.

Were you at tonight’s game?  Have you been to a trinity game this year with the starting qb playing?  If so, you would know this is not the team Male will face come December!

Male will also get top WR Max Gainey back in October so could be a wash. I like Trinity in a rematch though.

I've seen a BG/Trinity game in 2010 where Trinity had to play their 3rd string QB and ended up winning 14-13 because they adjusted their scheme and let their RB (I believe it was Bishop) carry them to victory; so it has happened.

Also, based off the things I've seen and read I don't know how it would be easy to assume Trinity wins this game by at least 2 TDs if Trinity has their starting QB. Are they probably better than Male, probably, but Male's defense isn't the necessarily the problem. 

But just an outsiders point of view.

I wasn’t. Trinity should have conducted a national search considering their success under Beatty. Cobb was a lazy hire, IMO.

We have a very good Junior class. I hope for their sake, the Jay Cobb experiment ends quickly.

Really not sure where a lot of the Cobb slander is coming from here. Had to go into a rivalry game with a 3rd string QB (admittedly, a pretty decent one) against a very stout defensive secondary and then gets two really bad bounces that both end up in Male's hands and lead to touchdowns and the early deficit. For one, I'm not sure how many coaches can get their team back in the saddle to fight the second half but also to keep going to take the lead. The punt block at the end was really tough and will certainly be a teaching moment, but I don't get calling for the guy's head through 15 games. Do you really think JC was outcoached in this game? There were several, and I mean several questionable calls that went against Trinity (a fumble that was ruled down, roughing the kicker after a dropped snap, backside phantom hold on a 20 yard gain to name a few.) And then they stopped a fake punt inside their own 35 and two more third and fourth-and-short QB keepers around midfield when handing it to Swinney probably would have gotten the yardage.

Should Trinity have won this game? Maybe. Will they learn from this and grow in games to come? Certainly. Is Jay deserving of all the blame for the outcome in this game? Not even close. Trinity will continue to get better and more healthy and when both of those two points collide, this will be the team to beat in 6A in 2022.

Exactly.

The AD is lazy as well. Losing Lampley and then Beatty has knocked Trinity out of any and all national discussions.
