CAL. Christian Academy-Louisville, Washington brothers transfer to Dayton Ohio School. Hoops related but this transferring thing is all over the place in all sports.  

Expect to see more of it in years to come.

Wondering what you mean by this? I don’t know if you’ve looked at what NKYs best 2 schools have done against Ohio schools over the years. Going back to 2011 Highlands is 1-5 against Ohio schools with a point margin of 223-155. Covington Catholic is 7-9 with 3 of those wins coming from the Michael Mayer era and an OT game. With a point margin of 474-301. Seems to me like NKY can’t keep up with Ohio. Don’t get me wrong I love KY football but we all know Ohio is just better in every aspect of football, Coaching, players, facilities, exposure. Don’t knock kids for wanting better than what they have.

All I am saying is kids that are making these high profile transfers are already on the radar. It would be nice for a few them to stick around and help build a program around them. Lakota West had to start somewhere. So did Colerain and many others. If NKY kids saw it this way then maybe eventually we would be more competitive with our neighbors across the river.

Unless you’re crossing the river to play for a GCL school I don’t really see a point. When we cross the water, we typically play the best of the best in Cincinnati. So it makes sense we don’t come out as victors in most of those games. Take Lakota West out of that group. Colerain makes a little bit more sense.

Lakota West is one of the biggest up and coming programs in the state of Ohio. The West Chester area is absolutely booming in population. More and more talent moving into that area every single day. I would even go as far as saying that going forward it wouldn't surprise me if LW has more success than Colerain. There is a reason Bolden left Colerain and went to LW.

The reason Tommy left was for a nearly 30K pay raise ... I am sure he understood the differences between Colerain and West ... But your comment here doesn't speak to why Tommy left. It had a lot more to do with money than the talent between both schools. I get what you are saying about Colerain talent vs West ... West will obviously continue to grow and will continue to carry on the success they are currently experiencing under Tommy ... But let's be honest ... West was a train wreck before Tommy got there and will most likely turn back into a train wreck once Tommy leaves (unless West finds another coach with similar attributes to Tommy). People across the river have been saying for years that Colerain's talent would dry up. It hasn't. Colerain still has talent ... But Cut isn't Tommy. 

If Tommy would have gotten 25% of what West threw out at him ... We would still be saying Tommy and Colerain in the same breath. 

With that said ... As long as these players go into the situation with their eyes open -- they will be okay. They do need to realize that they are going to most likely be lower on the depth chart than they are used to.

I am sure that money did play a big role in him leaving; money always talks. However, IMO the future at West is brighter than Colerain. They were actually just ranked number 81 in the country by Maxpreps. Moeller coming in at 65.

CovCath would be D2 or D3 in Ohio. Highlands would be D3 or D4 in Ohio. CovCath during their run and Highlands during their run would have hammered any like sized Ohio school on their way to Ohio State titles. A few years ago, LaSalle won the GCL and the D2 Ohio state championship, but lost to CovCath. 

If you are comparing like sized schools, you need to look at St. X or Trinity vs. the GCL schools if you really want to compare Kentucky and Ohio football. They are the only two schools in the state with similar enrollment numbers and have competed well with the big Ohio schools. 

The best football schools in Kentucky, would compete very well with the best Ohio schools in their divisions.

I agree. Trinity had down team by their historical standards last year but beat Cincinnati St. X who was highly ranked in Ohio.

Can anyone confirm that the Boone County QB has also transferred to Princeton?   Isn't this getting a little strange?

Very strange indeed…I’d love to know the IMPETUS behind Princeton’s sudden attraction to our NKY populous.
