NKY 5A District Playoffs

The move to Bottom at QB was brilliant... keeping both Noon and Benke as weapons really does open up the opportunities for the Highlands offense.... I also thought it was by far the best the O-line has played all year.

It will be interesting to see how either CovCath or Cooper, with a week or two of preparation will attack the New look Highlands Offense.... Caught Cooper by surprise so they didn't have many blitz packages ready for the young QB.   As a result he had plenty of time to throw and did so excellently.... Will CovCath and Cooper change that philosophy and attack the young QB with various blitz packages and disguised coverages?   Will be fun to watch the chess match between coaches... because it's my opinion that physically all three teams are very evenly matched....

I like what you did in your write up including both Cov Cath and Cooper as the next 2 opponents the Birds will face.  It shows the optimism that @El Diablohas which is that Highlands more than likely will be playing the first 2 playoff games against Cov Cath and then more than likely Cooper.

Appreciate it!

Go BIRDS!!!

Not a CCH fan, but I will jump in with an answer to your question - NO! The question back to you - Why did CCH schedule Ryle the last game of the season? My answer to that is this game is wh

No one is going to scrimmage at this point in the year. The way this year has gone for Highlands, the bye might not be a bad thing because of the changing roles of players late in the year. They get a

I would focus on stopping Noon first and then try to figure the rest of it out.

I would also make sure to give Noon a workout when he is playing defense like Elder (OH) did back in the day with Brett Hamblen.

They may have caught Cooper by surprise, but I'm sure Coach Borchers had no shortage of blitz packages. The man has coaches some pretty good defenses going back into the 2000's and they have always had a decent bit of LB pressure built in them.

Maybe he sense how the game was going (some days just aren't our day) and kept them tucked away knowing Highlands had shown their hand and he had not.

Or maybe I'm day dreaming and he doesn't have them at all this year haha... I haven't seen them play this year, but based on years passed, I'd imagine he has plenty of blitz packages to work with.

Been a long time since Highlands entered district playoffs as #4.  All the way back to 2016.

Two fun games next week!!

Whoever comes out of district 5, will they upset Woodford in round 3?

Yep, pretty sure it was 2016 because they had to travel to Doss.

Yes they will.

2021 #4 seed Birds is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the 2016 #4 seed Birds.

I doubt @El Diablo was saying that team would be getting out of the District, this one has a very good shot!

Can't wait!!

Covington Catholic’s defense is a problem for these other NKY teams.

If anybody beats them, it will most likely be a very low scoring game.

Cov Cath D sounded very solid and disciplined last night.

It was probably the best defensive performance of the year. CCH was really sound across the board at all three levels. Ryle is a really tough team.

Cooper or CCH are coming out of this district. Coach Borchers teams have always turned it up in the playoffs.
