Congrats to Cam and his full ride offer.  There should be more coming IMO.

So... Is Cam on top of the list for Mr. KY 2021??

I would say only if they took away the one for 2020 since it is a senior only award.  What was the final decision on that?

I would say going by it being a senior award he was a senior last year so no need to take it away. I would also say going by that he is also a senior this year and eligible to repeat the award. There will be a lot of questions that need to be answered about awards all across the state with football but I have a sneaky suspicion that we will be left without answers for most of them.

If I’m the kid I’m at EKU I’m August. State Champ? Check. Mr Football? Check. Any coach worth their salt would tell their kid the same thing. Cam has zero left to prove in KY HS FB.

EKU probably doesn’t have a spot for him in August. Although if I were him I’d wonder what has changed for them to offer now and not prior to this point. He’s not suddenly become a better player or prospect since last season. And while I know it’s a full ride, and nothing against EKU, but was EKU his goal or dream school, and the reason he’d risk injury to play another year of HS ball? If it was, then good for him. But for some reason, I feel like he’d would have been looking for something more.

The amount of times I've scratched my head over this saga would require both hands, and his June commitment to EKU is yet another of those moments.

Like every other kid matriculating out of KY, and specifically NKY, high schools, I wish him good health and a ton of success.

I hope it all works out for him in the end, while I don't know him from Adam, those that I know well who are familiar with him say he is fine young man.  Do you, kid!

I was trying to figure out how to word this situation and you said everything I was asking myself.  Good post.

To call this a head scratching saga is an understatement. He said he wanted to come back to play a non-covid season and go to camps to get more exposure and a better offer. Then a month later gets that offer, commits, and declares he still going to play a second senior season, and leave for college when the season ends. There is zero reason he or anyone else who has committed should be playing another season of high school ball if they were seniors last year.

Again everyone, no politics.

Speculation about the "intent" of the Kentucky Supplemental School Year Program (SSYP) is inherently political in nature and not a topic allowed under our Terms of Service.

In short, intent doesn't matter at this point, student-athletes are allowed to repeat a year and play sports period.
