Honestly, who would want to take the job at Highlands at this point?! Sounds like a hot mess situation to me. Too many men on the ship and everyone wants to be Captain, or maybe just one in particular that’s complicating the process. Guess we’ll never truly know.  

Can’t wait to see Lickert settle this nonsense of a post with his success on the hill this year and many years to follow. Go BREDS!

If the job was his to lose how did he lose it? He probably would be more successful at HHS than any other school he coached at. Give him the horses and he wins. Plus the non ending of talent. 

Rule 2 reads in part:

Do not comment on the manner in which another member has posted, or any violations you find in their posts. Such public remarks will be considered a violation under this rule.

To answer the thread if he has burnt the Highlands bridge then NC might be exactly where he needs to be for a long time.  I think NC will benefit from his bitterness towards Highlands if they don't come around during this period and take him.  At the end of the day I think the only knock on Steve is him hopping from school to school....lay down some roots and grow a program, then you might look more attractive.

This is actually a very good and fair thread imo. Nothing wrong with questioning a leader in charge.

No dog in the fight, but my two cents - for what that's worth.

Stephen Lickert is a fighter.  He is also a very smart man.  He's spent the majority of his adult life, and coaching career, building to this moment and opportunity.  If, as it is assumed, he is no longer a candidate for the Highlands job, I can see why this would be a frustration for him.

While I did not deep-dive into his Twitter account, I find it really hard to believe that Ron Dawn would condone any of his coaches taking grievances to social media for any reason. I trust that if there were an issue, it would be handled swiftly and accordingly.  

That said, I continue to wish the Highlands administration luck in finding their next head coach, whomever it may be.  The task of filling this role is much more difficult than some may believe it to be.  

Man o Man stop the insanity.  From what I heard he interviewed well and had a thesis paper of an action plan.  If he went to Twitter so be it.  He is a passionate person  and I am certain he wanted the job!  I know we all been there and yes the 24 hour rule is a good one.  In any event if this group keeps this up we are going to get Dave Shula and homes will go up quick in town.  Just once if we could give a little respect.  Good luck Steve whether you coach our kids or our neighbors!

I don’t know if he is bitter or hurt or whatever. I agree with pretty much everything you said. People have knocked him for switching jobs but I don’t really understand why. He has always had a goal or goals. Every job was a step in that direction. I’m sure one of them was to win a state title as a coach. Dayton, Holmes, Campbell Co and now NCC. Of all of those the only one to have a realistic shot is where he is now. Now he becomes that coach if he starts putting together titles that people talk about wanting but will never get. He more than likely will never leave the area. He is in a spot where the only job he might leave for is HHS. 
 

As far as his tweets go. The only way those appear bitter or as if there is an underlying meaning is if there is information the general public doesn’t know. 
 

The man can coach. He is extremely competitive and passionate about what he does. That doesn’t always sit well. Now I’ve always gotten the impression that Ft Thomas is a very tight community with families living their for generations. That can be a good and a bad thing for some. 

With all the positivity about Steve on this thread (which is what BirdDaddy wasn't expecting) I must ask the obvious question then.  Why the heck hasn't HHS pulled the trigger on Lickert?  I mean I wouldn't have been surprised if they did....if he hit it out of the park as someone stated in the interview, had a thesis about how to turn the program around with Wins, Is a great coach as someone stated, etc, etc....There must be some serious skeletons in his closet that we don't know about it....

I tend to agree. Something doesn’t add up. Is there something personal with Steve and the administration? Steve’s character has never been in question and he’s produced. HHS had their guy and he backed out. You’d think it would be an easy solution to go back to Steve. 

Coach Lickert is an outstanding young football coach. 

Had a very successful AD say to me a few weeks ago.... "these programs that think they want a new coach. They better be careful what they wish for. I don't see that many young, good, quality head football coaches out there."
