Was it a hit or sac fly? MLB.com said single by Freeman.

Looks like it was a single. I heard "to center fielder Brian Goodwin" and thought sac fly. Must have gotten down before it made it to Goodwin.

Couple things that just aggravate me. Taking out Senzel is mind blowing 2-4 to bring in Akiyama. Senzel has power and in a 0-0 games just no way. And wouldn’t you know it that spot came up big twice after he is out.
Votto has to score on the single by Suarez

Why would you not walk Freeman after all he’s MVP more than likely and you could keep double play in tact.
This is the worst hitting team in baseball history and they just proved it again to me.

My 2nd guess in all of your comments above are not about Shogo replacing Senzel.  Shogo was the best hitter on the team the last month of the season and is a very good defensive player, which is certainly a factor in a close game.

My 2nd guess is about not having Jankowski available to pinch run for Votto. Bell had wasted his pinch runner earlier.

Shogo didn’t hit lefty’s at all. Used him in a. Bad spot. I’m not saying you couldn’t have used him just not for Senzel. We didn’t need a pinch runner for Votto but if you watch the replay his dumb butt was going back to second on the hit. He’s a terrible base runner.  Shogo did hit the ball ok the last 3-4 weeks of the season just terrible spot to bring him in there. I can’t stand Bell. He’s awful and managing wins close games most of the time.

Farmer or Barnhart DEFINITELY should’ve squeezed!!

Ozuna has had a great year but pitching too Freeman is like pitching to Chipper in his prime.  Oh and that double steal...

This game was so frustrating. The Reds seemingly out played the Braves the entire game, until they didn't. The pitching was phenomenal today, base running and situational hitting were the same exact thing that we've seen the last two to three seasons...horrendous!!!

I'll watch tomorrow but it feels like I'm being made to eat my vegetables...hopefully instead of broccoli and asparagus it's more like salsa.

Biggest managerial bust of the game...absolutely no reason to pitch to him...NONE!!!

Tough one to take. We left for New Richmond to pick up some online auction winnings at 3:15.  Game was in the 9th or 10th.  Got there just under an hour later, paid for and loaded our prizes.  I think it was somewhere around Chilo when the game finally ended.

I told mcmama that this was probably the first 1-0, four and a half hour game I could remember. I also invoked the wisdom of Crash Davis.  Strikeouts are fascist. Throw some ground balls.

The Braves have very good late in games.

Are you saying he brought Shogo in to face a lefty?

Shogo hit over .300 with a .439 OBP the last 30 days. On this team those numbers make him Ty Cobb. Senzel was 1 for his lasr 25 coming into the game today and Bell started him. It was to face a lefty so he had little choice on this roster but he would have been blasted if Senzel did not get those hits. But those numbers also show why Shogo went in later for Senzel
