I don’t either, what in hell was there to debate about Georgia after last night? Georgia was fortunate to remain at #4 as long as they did, they have lived off of their past couple seasons and it caught up with them.

Pulling for LSU so I can get more Ed Orgeron. Not a more fascinating listen in sports than Ed.

Going into last night's game, the only team that had scored more than 17 points on Georgia was South Carolina who needed overtime to get 20.

Alabama and Michigan will play in the Citrus Bowl.

Western Kentucky will play Western Michigan on Dec. 30 in the First Responders Bowl.

Notre Dame will play Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl on Dec. 28.

So basically you like teams that in at least 6 games? Can't say I blame you there.

Got the 4 best teams this year, no one outside of those four can whine about being left out.

This year it worked itself out to where no one outside the Top 4 have a legitimate case that could be made for them.

I think 4 is right as well but wouldn't be surprised to see it eventually go to 6 or 8 teams somewhere down the road.

Expanding it from here gets us to the automatic qualifier territory. I am sorry, I do not want to get into a situation where we have to take a team by default.

Agreed it worked itself out, but that is the thing it shouldn’t have to work itself out. A team especially the power five schools should be able to go into a season and know exactly what they have to do to be in the playoffs. That is not the case right now. In any other sport you basically know you are guaranteed to make it if you do something. So while this season it did work itself out, it still doesn’t mean it is the right system. Shouldn’t be a situation like we would have had if Utah had won and then having to see who should be in Oklahoma or Utah. The current system right now we could have a school go undefeated in all five power conferences and one of them would get left out. I know the chances of that are slim and may never happen, but still it shouldn’t ever be a possibility for that to happen. It happened before with three undefeated teams when they only had two teams play for a title. One day it probably would happen, and just wouldn’t be right for whoever that fifth team would be to be left out.

 

IMO it should be 8 or at worst 6 and let the five conference champions in and one at Large. With maybe a stipulation though that if you are a conference champ you can’t have more than two overall losses or else it changes to an at large. A team should be able to go into a season and know for a fact exactly what they have to do to be in and that is not what our system is currently. The way it plays out the majority of our playoff teams are conference champs anyways. So it doesn’t change much, except allowing a team to know for a fact they will be in if they win their conference championship. Rather than wondering if human opinion would keep them out or not.

In my longer post just now you can add stipulations to that though. Like if you are a conference champ but have more than two losses, it cancels you out and it becomes an at large bid. Or if you are a conference champ but the committee ranks you lower than tenth it cancels your automatic bid out.

 

A team should know going into a season what they have to do to be in. Rather than hope a bunch of human opinions determine if your one lost was better or worst than that other teams one lost.
