November 15, 20196 yr If he has previous issues as you say here, that is going to make it harder for him to get anything reduced on appeal. Garrett seems to be saying the right things. If he had a clean background with the league, I think he would have a chance of getting it reduced to regular season only perhaps. The other big obstacle for him at this point is the media hype machine is all over him. That puts a lot of pressure on the league. But before Thursday’s incident, Garrett had been $50,000 for several penalties, notably punching Delanie Walker of the Tennessee Titans and two roughing-the-passer plays on Jets quarterback Trevor Siemian, one of which ended his season. November 15, 20196 yr Garret suspended indefinitely, solidly for the rest of this season and possibly some games next season. Pouncey suspended three games. Both teams fined $250k. A bit excessive to shut down Pouncey for half the remaining games seeing as how he was standing up for his QB that was just assaulted, but oh well. Well, in standing up for his quarterback, Pouncey also committed assault and battery. He was kicking a player in the head who was on the ground and being held down by an O-Lineman. Garrett and Rudolph had already been separated. At that point, Pouncey was retaliating, not defending Rudolph. Out on the street, his actions are also considered assault and battery. He deserves his suspension.
November 15, 20196 yr This needs to be in the Boxing/Mixed Martial Arts/Professional Wrestling Forum lol. All kidding aside, this is sad for football in general. Kids mimic their heroes. It probably has and will happen again at a lower level.
November 16, 20196 yr Personally, I think it is a bad reaction from the league if you do not come down harder on Pouncey or Rudolph. All three of those guys acted really stupid. Edited November 16, 20196 yr by PP1
November 18, 20196 yr Troy Vincent says Mason Rudolph will be fined for his part in the melee'. He tried to rip off Garrett's helmet and pushed him off of him with a foot to Garrett's groin area. Vincent also said that there will be more fines levied on the players involved next week when they have a had a chance to thoroughly evaluate all the film on the incident.
November 18, 20196 yr Rudolph's actions would have been nothing more than a personal foul, and possibly an ejection, if in a vacuum. A fine for him is appropriate.

Yes, I wasn't aware of these other issues when I posted comments earlier. Thanks.

Completes all I need from the incident. I think the punishments all fit now.
November 21, 20196 yr Latest development reported by Adam Schefter is that Myles Garrett told the NFL in his appeal hearing today that Mason Rudolph called him a racial slur during the altercation leading to Garrett’s actions.
November 21, 20196 yr Latest development reported by Adam Schefter is that Myles Garrett told the NFL in his appeal hearing today that Mason Rudolph called him a racial slur during the altercation leading to Garrett’s actions. Few things. 1) Through his attorney Rudolph denies Garrett's allegations and calls him a liar and this nothing more than a gross attempt to clear his name and reduce his suspension. This allegation never surfaced to the Browns, Steelers, teammates, etc. until the appeal hearing. 2) If Garret's allegation is true, does that justify the actions and help his cause?

It did not help his cause if true or not, because the NFL has kept his suspension the same.
November 21, 20196 yr It did not help his cause if true or not, because the NFL has kept his suspension the same. The suspension is "indefinite." Not as if it was eight games and they kept it at eight games. This does not provide insight as to how long he will be suspended.
November 21, 20196 yr He wouldn’t have sat on it for a week and would have went after him before Rudy tried to rip his helmet off.
