June 28, 20197 yr Coach pitch pee wee baseball when I was 5. Our field did not have an outfield fence or lights. I grew up in a rural county where your only options were little league football when you got into the fifth grade, pee wee baseball when you turned 5, or little league basketball starting in the second grade.
June 28, 20197 yr D League basketball at age 7 for Cottage A.C. in the Covington Recreation League where my brother and best friend's brother were the coaches. Then D league Knothole baseball at 7 for Cottage A.C. Played Knothole ball and basketball for Cottage until around 13 and then played basketball for St. Aloysius in the 8th grade in the Catholic league where games were played at Covington Catholic on Saturday morning. All teams at some point were league champs.
June 29, 20197 yr Never once. I was raised pre Title IX. There were very few organized sports for girls. Though I can’t say I felt deprived in my childhood. It is just the way it was. I will say, I have wonderful memories of “street sports” with both boys and girls in my neighborhood which seems to be a great loss to today’s youth. Edited June 29, 20197 yr by Beechwoodfan
July 1, 20197 yr Class C, knothole...Post 3205 in 1955(?), at age 9. Football at age 11, and basketball at age 10. Played ball sunup to sundown, everyday of the year except when in class.
