He's had two major injuries in the past 6 months and there is a lot of depth at his position.
May 30, 20197 yr I would be kinda surprised if Allen doesn't redshirt. He's had two major injuries in the past 6 months and there is a lot of depth at his position. He might but he will still count as a scholarship player. It will just give him an extra year of eligibility on the court.
May 30, 20197 yr Here is what the depth chart looks like right now that ksr posted. PG: Ashton Hagans/Immanuel Quickley SG: Tyrese Maxey/Johnny Juzang/Brad Calipari SF: Kahlil Whitney/Dontaie Allen PF: EJ Montgomery/Keion Brooks Jr. C: Nick Richards/Nate Sestina
May 30, 20197 yr Everything I've seen so far UK still expects Allen to be in uniform. We will wait and see. The ACL rehab will take longer than recovering from the collarbone.
May 30, 20197 yr Kerry Blackshear apparently withdrew his name from the draft. If that's the case UK is expected to try to get him 1st before trying to get Dante to reclass.
May 30, 20197 yr Author If that's the case UK is expected to try to get him 1st before trying to get Dante to reclass. Major outlets are now reporting this now. I've not seen it but he apparently posted it on his Instagram.
May 30, 20197 yr I always hate when people use that argument. People act like Tubby was gift wrapped the most talented team in the country. That UK team was not the most talented team in the country that year compared to the other top teams. So while they may have been recruited by Pitino. Tubbys system probably fit that years team even better, and was a big reason they won it all. Sorry pet peeve of mine when people bring that up and literally for no reason at all. UK may have one less title right now if Pitino coached that team and not Tubby. That’s how I’ve always felt about it. Rick of course may have won with that team, but who knows. Tubby was a very good X’s and O’s coach. When given proper talent, that took him far. But he struggled mightily in acquiring proper talent. They caught an awful break in 2003, and had things played out slightly differently, he could have taken them to Final Fours in 1999 and 2005 as well. 2004 was pretty inexcusable, and they fell well short in his other years as well. If Tubby’s X’s and O’s could have come with better ability to discern and acquire talent, I could have seen him get another title.

That UK team Tubby won a title with is one of the least talented teams to win a title in the last 30 years.
