March 31, 20197 yr After years of following BGP I have never responded to a thread. This time I had to. Few has won 83 percent of his games over 20 seasons. They play in a 6,000 seat arena. You do not just call people and say "hey, let's play next week". Wow, I hope some of the folks are as successful in their chosen careers after 20 years. I would imagine the school and community are quite happy with him and the integrity of his program.
March 31, 20197 yr Yeah, if Few is let go, there will be a line of great coaches ready to go there and take over that dominant program (note sarcasm)...that nobody had ever heard of before Few went there. He also is a classy dude that has never done anything to embarrass his program (like Knight, Cal, Pitino, Pearl, Samson, etc. have done). They should build a statue of him in front of their arena if they have not already.

I think that Few is there until Few decides to leave. I don't see that happening, Few has had multiple offers to go elsewhere over the years and he's declined all, says that he and family are happy right where they're at and that there's a lot to be said for that. I get the feeling that Gonzaga feels the same.
April 3, 20197 yr Gonzaga needs to schedule better non-conference games in January and February. They are sort of trapped in the WCC and that does nothing to prepare them. If I were them, I'd really try to push for membership in the Mountain West or something (because the PAC-12 won't take them). There was a rumor years ago that the Big East might be interested but that's too far a trip for most member schools to take and wouldn't be geographically feasible IMO.
April 3, 20197 yr Nobody knew they had a program before him. Actually, Dan Monson lead Gonzaga to their first Elite 8 in 1999 where they lost to the eventual champion, UConn.
