March 24, 20197 yr Also to answer some of the people wondering about why Cal doesn't have more players. One player transferred and another is now hurt in Washington. That's 10 guys who are legit college players who can play and iiiiiiiiuicontribute if Washington wasnt hurt and Green didnt transfer. You really dont want to have 13 guys on scholarship, because with never knowing how many guys that will leave. You dont want to offer guys spots, and then some guys decide to stay. Right now UK can recruit hard and if guys were to decide to stay they have the open spots, and dont have to worry about being dirty and at last spot pull back a scholarship. Johnny David is one of those guys and he does not contribute in games.
March 24, 20197 yr It’s a good thing that Wofford wasn’t hitting most of their shots, they won today if they were. When they played teams with length in Power 5 conferences, they shot about the same percentage they did today, which included a banked in three. While they were off today, some of that has to be attributed to UK's defense.
March 24, 20197 yr You may have gotten your UK losses to Uconn confused. Millet and Liggins were on the 2011 lost to Uconn in the final four. They were not on the 2014 title lost team that Napier played so well in. Yeah, it was the team Kemba Walker played on. I got mixed up. But actually, both the 2011 and 2014 games with UConn were loaded with Oscar caliber flops by UConn that were rewarded fouls by the refs.
March 24, 20197 yr Johnny David is one of those guys and he does not contribute in games. Hagans, Herro, Johnson, Washington, Travis, Quickley, Baker, Green, Richard's, Montgomery. That is 10 guys so no Johnny Davis was not one of those 10 guys at the start of the season that I said in my previous post. About how they had 10 guys to start the year to contribute. You cant think someone will transfer mid year, and then injury just unfortunate. Just bad luck. I have zero problem with their approach. Just like going into this season there would have been zero idea exactly who would go pro. Chances are would think Herro wouldnt be a one and done guy, but he probably will be. If you fill your 13 scholarship spots just to fill them. Then yourself in a tough spot. You wont know until May if a guy would leave for sure or not. So makes it harder to truly recruit guys hard, because may not have enough scholarships. So you have to leave some spots open. Usually it wouldnt matter, just some bad luck has made it a very little problem this year. Which still really isnt a problem.
March 24, 20197 yr A guy who had a really good game not mentioned much was Baker. He got most of the minutes when Johnson in foul trouble. He had a very solid game on both sides of the floor.

March 24, 20197 yr Arguably the best game he has had this year. I really hope he stays. I really think he has a chance to be a very good player here that all fans eventually love if he stays. Good defender, good passer, smart player. His biggest strength is suppose to be his shooting, so eventually that will come around once he plays more consistently in the future.

Like people can talk about the great defense UK played today and rightfully so. But Magee was just off today. Great defense didn’t cause him to miss all 12 of the 3’s he attempted. Yeah the defense made it much more difficult, but a great shooter like that doesn’t miss 12 straight 3’s no matter how great the defense.

March 24, 20197 yr And UK became a MUCH better team because of this transfer! But to the question that was asked, it shrunk the bench by a lot as well.

Their best shooter, well that's a different story, but the same could be said about Johnson and Herro. Wofford also wasn't playing without their best player who is also a lottery pick. I mean you can kind of say that about most games. Bottom line UK didn't choke and won a tough game against a team that hadn't lost since December.
March 24, 20197 yr Yeah, he probably should have been 2-12 against that D today. 2/12 is a tie ball game. Just saying.

As long as he doesn't look to head back west, he's only a sophomore next season. With his knee problems the first 18 months he was on campus behind him(hopefully) I think he can be an impact player moving forward if he can stay healthy.
March 24, 20197 yr Arguably the best game he has had this year. No argument here, this is what they prepare for all season and he rose to the occasion.
