March 23, 20197 yr And Jackson from Wofford got calls his way the majority of the game. It is what it is. UK's defensive game plan was pretty solid for the most part. They survived the type of game that has cost them a few times this year. Survive and advance. I think they were fortunate to get the win. Reid is getting the benefit of the doubt right now. He is initiating a lot of contact and fortunately for him today he got the call.
March 23, 20197 yr Kentucky shouldn’t struggle so much to score against a team like Wofford. Wofford played very hard on defense and really good at help defense. With that said Uks best offensive players are Washington, Herro, and Johnson. Washington was out, Johnson in foul trouble all game, and Herro shot was off. However probably had to do with the energy he used on defense in this one. Which he played great on defense.
March 23, 20197 yr Kentucky was extremely fortunate to win this game. I thought Reid got a very favorable foul call at the end. Not to mention a couple of missed layups from Wofford. That game can be played all day. Herro missed a few easy shots around basket he usually always makes.

Reid Travis was fortunate to get that foul call at the end of the game(I think that’s legit as well). In the end, you survive and advance and that’s what they did.
March 24, 20197 yr The officials were not kind to Wofford at all. Every time #10 made a move the UK defenders grabbed his jersey and 3 times when he shot a 3 he got knocked to the ground. No call. Also at the end of the game the Wofford post players got hammered at least 3 different times. Uk shot 21 free throws. Wofford 9

Wofford 9 We can all go through and comment on each of the poor calls that went against UK too, but I won't. Instead I will point out what I thought should be obvious, when one teams jacks up a ton of threes and the other attacks the basket, there will be a decent difference in free throw attempts.

March 24, 20197 yr Author AND like I said earlier UK did have a midseason transfer that was a starter for about half his time at UK before leaving. Kind of hard to anticipate that. And UK became a MUCH better team because of this transfer!

Travis might go right back up and get a basket or an and 1. Travis might be smart enough to kick it out and then Wofford is forced to foul UK. That foul call was a non issue because Travis had the rebound after the foul call.
March 24, 20197 yr Also to answer some of the people wondering about why Cal doesn't have more players. One player transferred and another is now hurt in Washington. That's 10 guys who are legit college players who can play and contribute if Washington wasnt hurt and Green didnt transfer. You really dont want to have 13 guys on scholarship, because with never knowing how many guys that will leave. You dont want to offer guys spots, and then some guys decide to stay. Right now UK can recruit hard and if guys were to decide to stay they have the open spots, and dont have to worry about being dirty and at last spot pull back a scholarship.

Also, Johnson was called for a foul on a 3 points shot and didn’t touch the guy, he simply flopped to his left and fell down and the ref bought it and gave him 3 freebies from the foul line. The guy actually got up from the floor laughing about what he’d got away with. Somewhere today UConn’s former player Shabazz Napier is very proud of that guy’s theatrics. He was a master at the sideways flop in their NCAA championship game (with a little bias help from John Higgins) in the championship game. Got away with it twice, once against Liggins and once against Miller. I know....I know, I need to let it go, but it’s hard to do, lol, Im still not over that stolen UNC game in 2017!

You may have gotten your UK losses to Uconn confused. Millet and Liggins were on the 2011 lost to Uconn in the final four. They were not on the 2014 title lost team that Napier played so well in.

So not sure what was fortunate about it. The same about calls could be said about the double dribble not called by the Wofford player right before halftime that he eventually scored on.
