It wouldn't surprise me if Male won.

Male 34-31.

I know. If the outside guy starts off the line off scrimmage and then goes in motion back toward the middle, that should free him....unless he gets held!!

Sorry H!

Regardless of the various schemes Trinity cooks up to spring their receivers from bumping and chucking DB's at the line of scrimmage, I predict Mr. Beaumont will be ready to deliver a big hit on anyone who breaks open for a Petrino pass. And don't forget that Mr. Petrino may have his hands full trying to elude the Bulldog rush.

Trinity can pass but so can Male, Gainey is deceiving his completion rate is near 70% and after 11 games he had thrown for MORE yards than Petrino. Redman is in the drivers seat on this one he has both in his arsenal a running game and a passing game, watch for Gainey to throw more than usual against the Rocks, why? Because soft pass defense is Trinity's biggest weakness. I watched Trinity give up 380yards passing yards when they played FC. Fern Creek has a horrible defense Trinity put up 51 pts but FC also had 3 very uncontested TD's through the air..Male has a defense, Male has a running game Male also has a QB that can throw, scramble and run and not too many receivers miss catches when they are not covered. The Rocks have their hands full in this one, the D will have to shift all night. Look for Josh Williams to be a factor in this one. This won't be like playing X where you know they are going to run 95% of the time.

You're right we are generally softer against the pass, than the run. With that..we will key on Josh, bet on that. Male might have a defense, but you can rest assured that they have not faced near the offense that we have. It will be a top level game.

I imagine that we will have 2-3, sometimes 4 guys, all bunched up together....they all go different ways, it will be very tough to guard that in man coverage. Easy for a zone.

No worries homey.

I hope you don't mean Beaumont will deliver his hits prior to the pass. I also like the fact that Doug will have to work as hard as he has all year on defense. That may take its toll late in the game. I heard that he (as well as others) was dragging in the second half of the first X game. He did rebound and catch the game winner in OT though. I would guess that the Rocks plan to give him a workout on defense. If he is "Mr. Football", he should lead his team to victory Friday night. Male is favored by two touch-downs at home in the Lit rankings as of last week.

That's why I am glad the field is 50 yards wide...he can't cover the whole thing.

Rock^^, and we won't be"ready"? We got beat in the second round the last two years and that taste in still there. Let the game be played. Go Dawgs! And here's to no one getting injured. Good Luck Rocks.

I am sure Male will be ready. All I am saying is that it seems like MANY aren't giving us much of a chance at winning this game. Same kind of scenerio that surrounded the title game last year. I like how things played out.

Seems to me that a lot of the early posters were siding with Trinity in this game. Now the majority seems to be swinging towards Male. I personally think that Male should be a a 4-7 point winner. Thinking 31-27 or 35-28, Male.

BUT...the more Trinity presses the defense with stretching the field, the more tired the defenders become. Watching Male for many years I think the players tend to relax on defense and save whatever they can for offense. Not a very sound approach to playing a Trinity. The bunch formations, "rubs", and motion will figure into a few wide open opportunities for Trinity. Will that be enough? I am betting that the Trinity defense will have their share of problems containg Gainey, tackling Beaumont and finding Josh Williams as he gets open while Gainey scrambles.

While Male does play a (physical at times) man to man defense, the only real "HOLD" I saw friday was a St. X defender holding a Male receiver and NOT getting called for it. I also think Heyman will have to play as well in the pass defense this week as he did last week. If he is mismatched with a TE who can get free or a fast receiver, that may haunt Male as well.

If there are not already enough fireworks to watch, take a look in the trenches where Sam Webb and Dane Spoelker will be getting to know one another. When T is on defense, Luke McD will be cutting in to dance.

I think Male's two key players are Heyman, and Williams on defense...they are the key to Male winning this game.

Without a doubt no matter what the outcome this will be the best game of the year in 4A..... Male needs to get it done this year too, regardless of what their supporters say, they are in store for a couple of lean years. Their 6A district draw does help them out NEXT year though as far as making the playoffs however Southern and Fern Creek both look to return a lot of their starters from this season and by the 08-09 season should be powerhouses both schools have growing enrollments and I look for both programs to improve dramatically sadly the thing I think hurting both those programs is coaching. The young talent is there.

JMO, but I think this one boils down to two things, execution and mistakes. The team that has the best execution with the fewest turnovers will win.

Head says Male.

Heart says Trinity.

It could go either way.
