McKee said... They don’t want us to call them The East Central KY Select Broncos. This was in reference to Frederick Douglass calling Scott County the team from up North.

Why in the world would you start your program with this idea of calling Scott County “that team up north”? From day 1 that’s what Coach Landis and his staff and entire program have done. Why poke the bear? I just don’t get it. We have people mad about McKee’s comments but can you blame him? You’re program is 2 years old and yes you’ve had a great start to your program, better then most but I just don’t see why you would constantly give anyone a reason to be anymore motivated against you. You can’t manufacture a rivalry or bad blood with a team and it just seems forced to me but whatever. Congrats to FD on a good season and SC on moving forward.

This thread is about the Scott County victory over Fredrick Douglass.

What is everyone’s opinion watching on that two point conversion attempt? Regardless, Scott County definitely came to play tonight. What a game!

 

Had a very interesting talk with a SC opponent's coach. He made me appreciate this decision going for two when he said..."you don't want to get in a 10 yard shoot-out with Scott County".

Tie the game!! 2:25 left in the game. You get a stop and then u can try to get in field goal to win it or at least it goes to overtime.

FD coach had stones to go for two. I firmly believe that he felt they could not stop SC in OT including the mandatory going for 2 at a certain point. Players love a coach that trusts them to win a game. SC is so well coached it looked like they were ready for the reverse pass on the 2-point conversion.

 

Those are 2 really fine football teams capable of winning state in 6A this year. GREAT game to watch on Prepspin. Awesome high school broadcast and contest!! Congrats to the Cardinals. Coach McKee is a fine coach, like him or not.

I normally would agree wif there was more time than 2:25. I think with that little of time in the type of offense they run I would take my chances.

I wouldn't consider it an upset. Would have loved to been at that game. Scott County is probably the only school outside of Louisville with a real shot at the title.

Hudson must have tore his jersey finished the game wearing #76.

Other than Belfry's shootout victory, this was my favorite game result of the weekend.

 

I'm so glad Scott County won and knocked FD out of the hunt. :banana:
