UK's Athletic Director is a big portion of the problem in several sports wise guy.

If you don't think its a shocker that the UK women are ranked higher than the UK men in the preseason polls, then you know nothing about the UK Men's basketball program.

Why can't both men's and women's teams be good. Just because the women's team is ranked higher in the preseason poll's then the men doesn't mean anything is wrong with the men's teams it mean's the women's team is really good.

 

And these are just preseason polls... if I remember correctly the men's team was ranked as high as #7 in some preseason polls last year. And we all know how that worked out for us.

Maybe he had the heart and played as hard as he was allowed to play with in the system he was told to play. Maybe he knew that if they dribbled the ball for 28 seconds and then tried to take a bad shot and play good defense to win a game 60-59 they might have trouble winning games. Possibly he knew he was considered one of the best players on the USA team he played on the summer before and was promised while recruited they were going to run, but he was never given the chance to do that. At the same time someone who joined his recruiting class left, but was catered to b/c he was 6'10''. Maybe he thought the mysterious fax that Tubby found ruined their chances at running and winning games. That was the second of the three that left the school by the way. Maybe he realized that he would also get a chance to show his NBA worth in the summer and that NBA people thought he was being used wrong and that he was going to be a very good pro.

 

Yeah I mean Im sure Tubby's goal is to win only 60 to 59. I mean I know Tubby must have been upset a few years ago when they beat the #1 team in the country in florida by over 20...

 

How do you know he was promised they were going to run when he was getting recruited, was you there?

 

Also yeah Im sure Rondo was really upset when Tubby found that fax, because I mean there were really running and winning all the time before Morris came back....

 

Yeah the style didn't fit Rondo's abilities the best, but still as a player he needs to try to go along and play within the system. With as talented as he is, Im sure if he actually just bought into the system instead of trying to fight it all the time, Im sure he would have been pretty successful still...

If a style of play has made fans not like UK, then they really never were fans of UK then to begin with. UK is on the decline now? After just 1 bad season after having 3 straight years of very good teams...

 

Now I admit our Senior and Sophomore classes this year was not very good classes, and having classes like that shouldn't happen. But other than that the recruiting has been fine. We had the top class in the country two years ago, this years class we brought in is a very good group. Then as long as everything plays out the right way next years class is shaping out to be a awesome class.

 

Remove the cant get over Pitino glasses and then the truth will be seen...

Other than Brooks being hired as the FB Coach, I'm not sure what your talking about. Womens BB, the Baseball Team is on the rise, and the mens BB Team will be fine.

I don't know that he was promised that, but it was reported. I know you can't go on everything that was reported, but people are bashing him b/c they heard he didn't get along w/ people on the team.

 

Rondo could have been upset that the second of the big three bailed on him and the rest of the team, but was allowed back. He could have thought that the he was the best player and the offense should have adjusted to his abilities b/c......

 

He was by far their most talented player. He could end up proving that he was one of the best few players in the country. The other superstars around college were catered to by their coaches. ie..JJ and Morrison. This may be a different era and people may not like it but you should try to make your best player happy. It is widely speculated that his team last year was out of shape. I did not see that from him. He could have been upset about that. All I know is the NBA scouts and people that watch players play said he was one of the best players in the country, and now he's getting rave reviews. Maybe everyone else is right and Tubby got it wrong with him.

It's not a knock because they are getting better, it is a knock because those teams are on the rise and UK is on the decline.

 

Tubby's style of play has lost fans and recruits. You can still win games without one of those, but not without both.

I dont agree that the coach should make his best player happy, that is like saying ok you are the new coach of the team we will do what you want...

 

I agree and I dont think anyone would argue that the style we used here wasn't the best style for him. But if you look at the players around him we didn't have the players that probably could run up and down the court. Yeah we had Crawford and Bradley, but besides that we had guys like Perry, Thomas, Orbzut, Sparks, Morris, and Alleyne all guys that really dont seem built to be running a fast pace game all the time. So that means Tubby needed to probably play a style that fits the team the best, not just one player...As I said it wasn't the best style for Rondo, but if he would have just bought into and and not tried to fight it, he still could have been really successful here...

Nothing spells average like 11.5 ppg. He was a great floor leader and teammate just not a great player, good but not great.

 

With all due respect, you're showing that you do not truly understand how the Celtics of the 80s played the game and that you do not know what DA's role was. When you have Bird, the Chief, and McHale, your role is not to score 20 per night. I'm going to guess by your moniker that you're too young to have actually witnessed the classic Celtics-Lakers and Celtics-Pistons battles.

 

Secondly, averaging 11 PPG over 14 YEARS in the top league in the WORLD is far from "average."
