He and Wildcats coach Tubby Smith butted heads. Ainge believes it was a classic case of misusing the talent, likening Rondo in Kentucky's deliberate offense to having Dan Marino run the option.

Ouch...

Is Tubby related to Bill Curry?

The next time Danny Ainge shows his ability to put together the right talent.....

Last year, after the season, I was down on Rondo. What I am quickly learning is that it wasn't the player that was causing the problem.

By the way, if Paul Pierce is singing his praises, that means one thing and one thing only: RR is passing the ball to Pierce so he's thrilled. Telfair on the other hand....

I disagree. There is no reason Rondo couldn't have played in that system. I've seen PG's with athletic ability (Hawkins/Turner) thrive in it and play above their talent level.

He certainly can't look int he mirrow to see talent. Ainge is a joke.

I was thinking the same. What has he done to gain good credentials in evaluating talent?

Was Tubby using Rajon the wrong way on the court? Maybe so and that is up for debate. But I am not buying Tubby was the force behind Rondo acting disintrested with the team on many occassions.

He averaged 11.5 PPG and 4.0 APG for an NBA career of 14 seasons. Also a couple of NBA titles and an All Star game appearance. Not sure where you're coming from besides just wanting to be argumentative.

Tubby's whole system is what's wrong with Kentucky basketball. He is a good coach and a good guy, but he is not a good fit for UK.

If you want to have that debate then that is fine. But does this give Rondo or any other player the right to "butt heads" or protest the coaching practices of Tubby Smith or any other college basketball coach?
