August 16, 20188 yr Even more impressive when you figure they're giving up a weekend day's sales. Probably could increase sales by 15% staying open on Sundays. Still, I can't place any fast food in the under or over rated category. My expectations for them are very low. Good point about the Sunday sales. Especially since their founders views are friendly to those with a Christian viewpoint. I could see a lot of after church meals if the store was open.
August 16, 20188 yr I honestly wouldn't know where to begin with either of those statements. But I will tell you that using Chick-fil-A's mobile ordering system that I have more than once had the experience of walking in the door and being handed my food in less than 45 seconds at the height of the lunch hour. Not exaggerating. I often avoid Chick-Fil-a as I don't like crowds and I like to eat there instead of using the drive-thru. But the times I have used Chick-Fil-A's drive thru it is amazing how fast it operates. You can be in line that wraps almost twice around the building and get your food much faster than you would at the Taco Bell across the street with just two or three cars in front of you.
August 16, 20188 yr Author Best steak I ever had was quite a few years ago at Walt's Hitching Post before it closed and reopened. I could cut that thing with a butter knife. I have relation that tell me Walt's is very good now and others that tell me it's highly overrated. I'll need to check it out myself. I am in the boat saying that Walt’s is absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend it. I wish I could get there more often but the couples my wife and I go out with usually want to go have drinks after and there isn’t much around so we end up downtown for dinner and drinks drinks.
August 16, 20188 yr I’ll also throw this out there. Montgomery Inn is not that good. The ribs are not always tender. It’s very expensive And the menu was not very creative. The sports memorabilia is kind of neat though. I was reading through all the posts before I posted and you nailed it....ribs are boiled, not smoked and the BBQ sauce is put on way too thick. Plus the sauce is way too sweet. Never saw why famous people ate there then ordered ribs to be shipped to them......it's just not real BBQ.
August 16, 20188 yr Subway is another overrated place. I always say their meat tastes like it was wiped with bleach. Just something about it.
August 16, 20188 yr Surprised by the disdain for Chipotle. Not as big as they used to be but still a solid go to in a pinch.
August 16, 20188 yr I'll have to agree with the Montgomery Inn take. I'll start by saying I don't dislike it. I just don't think its as great as most people think it is. I love going to the boathouse because of the views, the memorabilia, etc. but the food is just average at best. The idea of upscale barbecue is just sort of odd to me and always has been. The best barbecue places are usually mom and pop restaurants that have giant smokers out back. I'm not a huge ribs guy so I usually go with pulled pork or brisket whenever I go. Plus maybe its just me but the barbecue sauce is way to runny. I like my barbecue sauce to have a little more consistency and be sticky. Honestly, my favorite thing at Montgomery Inn are the chips and onion straws.
August 17, 20188 yr Personally I think the Wendy's chicken sandwiches are just as good as the Chick-fil-A sandwich. I also will get faster service at Wendy's. I can almost understand preferring Wendy’s Chicken Sandwich. If I had to choose a place besides Chick-Fil-a for a Chicken sandwich it would be Wendy’s. But there’s no way Wendy’s service is faster than CHick-Fil-A....even if you’re the only one in line at Wendy’s.
August 17, 20188 yr This is all opinion but if Chick-Fil-A is overrated, I would love to own one of those overrated franchises. Last year Chick-Fil-A had 9.0 billion in sales. That is compared to a combined 10.4 billion in sales by KFC, Popeye's, Zaxby's, and Bojangles' which are the next 4 highest competitors in the fast food chicken segment. 218 Top 2: The 6 biggest chicken chains | Nation's Restaurant News That's pretty amazing on it's own, but even more so when you consider that Chick-Fil-A has about 210 locations compared to about 2,472 for the others. List of the largest fast food restaurant chains - Wikipedia Those stores are like gold mines. We were talking about this the other day at work. Then we looked up what it takes to own a franchise. It seems there is not much to be made for the owner. Yeah you would make a nice living but most of the profits go to corporate.

August 17, 20188 yr Personally I think the Wendy's chicken sandwiches are just as good as the Chick-fil-A sandwich. I also will get faster service at Wendy's. Wendy's 27 minutes today, and that was inside. Aint no way Jose!
August 17, 20188 yr Wendy's 27 minutes today, and that was inside. Aint no way Jose! The one in Maysville is just as bad.
August 17, 20188 yr Most of the chains. I have many friends who are head over heels for Red Lobster, for example; but when you're pretty much raised on seafood, they get a solid "meh" from me. Same for Olive Garden. Chipotles. CFA. And at the risk of alienating my NKY friends once again, "Cincinnati chili" is glorified hot-dog sauce. Red Lobster is the one restaurant that I can go to, dine, spend $55-$60 and leave there hungrier than before I got there. Talk about too much price for too little. Rather eat at Captain D’s.
