Most Overrated Restaurants

Featured Replies

In a different thread there was a lot of talk about whether or not Panera was overrated. In your opinion what is the most overrated restaurant and why? Please explain why!

Chipotle. It's okay, but not as terrific as many make it out to be.

I was going to say Panera when I read the thread title (and I wasn’t even following the other thread ha ha).

Also, Dewey’s, Chik Fil A, Panada Express, Jimmy John’s, B-dubs, Canes, LaRosas – basically all the places my kids want all the time...

Not overrated – Chipotle, LOVE IT!!

I will disagree on Dewey's and Cane's. Agree on CFA.

Good call. I loved Chipotle when it first showed up, but while I do occasionally still eat there, it's pretty much blah. I much prefer Hot Head Burrito's.

I recently at at Wahlburger's in Cincinnati. The food was ok, but I didn't love it, and holy cow, was it expensive. Almost $70 for Burgers, fries, soda's plus a tip for my wife, son and I. Plus, we waited almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive, and the restaurant wasn't close to full.

I also don't think Larosa's is all that special, especially the pizza.

And not being from around here, all of the Cincinnati Chili parlors make my overrated list.

Most restaurants have gone down hill over the years. Besides quick bites, I rarely eat out anymore.

With that said I always thought the following were way overrated:

Cheddar's - Food average at best, and service very bad

Applebees - Food was ok, but it always took hours to get your stuff, its like they wanted to keep you there.

Texas Roadhouse - (this might be a location thing) the one in Etown has always been good, but everywhere else the steak has been poor quality and the places is excessively dirty. (beyond the peanuts everywhere)

Larosa's - Cardboard with ketchup taste better, they go light on the toppings and none of the locations have good service.

Chick-Fil-A is BY FAR the most overrated fast food restaurant on the planet.

And don't give me "they have great service!" I'm talking about the food.

Probably a location thing. All of them in Louisville are fantastic. My favorite restaurant.

Completely agree on Cheddar's. It's my wife's family's goto spot for family dinners, and it might be the most boring menu in the world. Although, I've never really ever heard anyone rave about it, so I'm not sure it's really overrated.

Texas Roadhouse has always been good, although I've only been to the one in Fort Wright, and the one in Owensboro recently.

Applebees - I'm with @plantmanky other than cold beer not much to talk about

Panda Express - I'm not a fan

I think a lot of this is what restaurants are close to your house; I've eaten a lot of places mentioned and when they move close to me or I eat them often those restaurants seem to suck a little more.

I find it hard to call any fast food place overrated, with the possible exception of Chik Fil A. Chik Fil A is so hyped by people that yes, I can say it is overrated. I like the food; I like the service; but it is still fast food. I do find it wacky how people go on about their waffles fries. They are french fries in a different shape. What's the big deal about them?

These other places are all just fast food so they are what they are to me. Some people like their food more than others. I like them all - except Jimmy John's. I will go without eating before I pull a tooth trying to eat the bread from that place.

I really do not like Buffalo Wild Wings.

Not a fan of Five Guys with Burgers and Fries

I also think Olive Garden is over rated. They have good salad and soup, but their italian dishes are pretty weak.

And as a Gold Star fan, I can't figure out why any of you like Skyline.

Outback has lost its luster.

One could argue they never had it. Only reason I ever went there was for the onion, the onion sucks now.

The one in Naples Florida is horrible.
