Most Overrated Restaurants

Featured Replies

If I’m in the mood for steak most of the time I’m grilling one myself (so I know it’s done correctly) or I’m going to one of the upscale steakhouses. Occasionally I’ll eat at a chain steakhouse I.e. Outback, TR, Longhorn but I rarely have had a steak I considered to be really good. Plus anytime you go to a chain place an order a ribeye it’s usually thin so it almost always comes out medium-well at best. So IMO they’re all overrated.

We eat at Texas Roadhouse a lot and about 90% of the time I order the Ribeye cooked rare. Seldom have an issue with it being overcooked.

I highly agree on the steaks. You can't find a better steak for the price point that you pay at Texas Roadhouse. I've had steaks that cost more other places that easily were not as good.

I disagree somewhat on the onion. I think that the season Outback has in their batter is better than at Texas Roadhouse, however, TR sells their onion for about 60% of what Outback charges so it's a much better value. As is most everything at TR.

There is not a better restaurant anywhere, for the value, than Texas Roadhouse IMO.

If done properly medium is perfect for any steak IMO. I’ve never attempted to order a steak rare at a restaurant. I usually do medium rare at a places like TR and it comes out medium well 90% of the time. I’m scared if I order rare that it will come out raw. Haha I’ll take the risk next time.

Chipotle........at least when they're open and not shut down by a problem food incident. :D

Oh, and by the way, McD's new hyped "fresh beef" hamburgers, absolutely have NO taste to it. They've ruined my Big Mac.

El Rio Grande restaurants. Years ago the one in Newport was pretty darn good. However it has gone downhill in my opinion as have all the other locations at which I have eaten.

Knotty Pine on the Bayou. Don't get it, never will.

Bob Evans. Like a lot of restaurants, not near as good as it once was.

Chipotle is overrated yet you like the Big Mac? Easily the worst fast food burger out there.

When we went to Orlando we ate at Longhorn twice. First time I got a filet medium rare, too chewy. Second time medium = perfect.

I guess I'm having a hard time understanding how places like Chick fil a and Chipotle are overrated.

Chick fil a is easily better than any other fast food chick and not over priced. How is that overrated?

At Chipotle you can get a burrito or bowl for $7. Unless you just hate the taste how can a $7 burrito as big as your head be overrated?

TR is solid. I don't go often, but it's never been bad, and the steaks are always cooked correctly. I get my steaks rare+ (just short of medium rare). As far as the onions, I'm not a big fan of TR's or Outback's. Those deep fried, battered onions, are maybe the unhealthiest things you can order. Tons of calories and fat, they are a fast path to a heart attack.

Admittedly I’ve been to a Longhorn 1 time so maybe I should give it another shot.

First time all week we agree 100% on something. Chipotle is ridiculously good. Definitely make it a point to eat there for lunch at least once a week.

I’ve heard good things but have never been.

LaRosa's

My wife and kids will beat you up for that comment.

Not very good.

I think House of Blues is awful.

I also think Steak and Shake is terrible, a grease pit. Grease just pours off the burgers.

I think it's similar to most of your chain steakhouses. Pretty average but nothing to write home about. Their salad bar is good though.
