August 15, 20188 yr I've been to Morton's and Ruth's Chris a couple of times each. I definitely felt like they were overrated. DEFINITELY.
August 15, 20188 yr I've been to Morton's and Ruth's Chris a couple of times each. I definitely felt like they were overrated. DEFINITELY. Now you are talking about restaurants you can call overrated! When you are spending that kind of money on a meal, there better be something very special that makes it worth the price. I ate at the Maisonette when it was still here. It was worth it.
August 15, 20188 yr As for bigger restaurants Applebee’s is overrated in my opinion. Fast food places: McDonald’s is the king except for their breakfast menu, which isn’t too bad. But when I was still teaching every field trip I was part of the kids always wanted to eat at McDonald’s.

August 15, 20188 yr I’m not gonna lie, I’m probably addicted to McDonald’s. McD's Coke always kept me coming back, it was the best and it's not close. Both of our McDs remodeled recently and their Coke taste like the crap from Burger King...I ain't going to lie, it's broke my heart.

August 15, 20188 yr I always thought CFA was way over hyped, we'll it is actually. That said, I finally gave their nuggets a try...they are great and the chocolate chip oatmeal cookie is the truth. CFA is no longer shunned by me!
August 15, 20188 yr I don't like any of the "Sweet" chili places like Goldstar or Skyline...way over rated. I agree Olive Garden is way over rated as is Ruby Tuesday and Applebee's. Cheddars is a case by case basis, some are great some are just ok.
August 15, 20188 yr I like Chik-Fil-A and the food is good, never tastes dry or blah like most fast food. I don’t think Cane’s is overrated either too simple to be highly rated, I get the small menu keep it simple approach but you’re in the south get some BBQ sauce already, I don’t like anyone’s special sauce especially if mustard or mayo based, but a chicken joint in the South needs both hot sauce and bbq sauce as an option. I second the Chipotle greatly - at least Taco Bell owns that it is cheap Mexican, to me Chipotle is the Mexican Subway but pretends it’s good. Not impressed, there is so much good Mexican food in Louisville I don’t know how Chipotle even stays in business.
August 15, 20188 yr I love CFA. I'll take a CFA Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Waffle fry over any food from any fast food restaurant. I also love Jimmy John's. I have lunch delivered from there, at least once a week, always fresh, always the way I order it. And it's freaky fast. (There was a lapse while I got over the Subway food poisoning debacle, though) Ruth's Chris, Bern's, Roy's, Fleming's, and Eddie V's are all overrated. Never been to Jeff Ruby's, but I doubt if I can get a better meal than any I've had at Daddy's Grill. Most of these places are much ado about nothing. I do not understand the fascination with Jersey Mike's. I guess it's that oil and red wine vinegar they throw on everything. I hate that stuff. The smell of it make me queezy. If I want a sub where they shave the meat in front of me, I'll go to Publix. You couldn't pay me to eat at Golden Corral. Unless RTS sends me a six pack of Dixie Chili, I'm stuck eating Skyline, if I crave Cincinnati style chili. They closed the Skyline on US19. Have to drive clean over to the one on Gulf To Bay, now. If I am in need a case of e coli, Chipotle's is where I head. I find it fascinating that this restaurant's long history of association with food poisoning has done nothing to hurt it's brand. I think I'll go to Moe's, tomorrow. Reeeeeeed Robin...Yuk! Portillo's. It's OK, but Mel's Hot Dogs, near Busch Gardens, has better Chigago style hot dogs and they're not overpriced.
August 15, 20188 yr Pompilios in Newport, but it still seems to live off of its historical hype, and that a scene in Rain Man starring Dustin Hoffman, and Tom Cruise was filmed there. It was good years ago, but apparently the grandmother who made it so has passed on, and with her went the quality. In the last 15 or so years I haven't ever had a good meal there. I don't even bother anymore, but they still seem to pack them in. The meals always seem to come across as greasy pedestrian versions of Italian food. Good for them that they can still attract a crowd based on their name and hype, but for me it's a no go. I'm no restaurant snob by any stretch, but it always cracks me up when I hear people suggest Pompilios in an excited way while wiggling their eyebrows as if the place is incredible. I suppose that they bought into the hype too.

I've no idea what Daddy's Grill is, but I, for one, will GLADLY shell out the bucks for a steak at Ruby's. I really dig Jersey Mikes for subs...and seldom get vinegar on the my subs from there. And I've never tried a sub from Publix. Google tells me that the nearest location to me is in Clarksville, TN...so it doesn't look like I'll be trying one any time soon :lol2: Have you ever tried making your own Cincinnati chili? I live less than a mile away from a Skyline here in Louisville, so we'll still go there sometimes, but my mother-in-law and now my wife pretty regularly make Cincinnati chili from pre-mixed seasoning packets. You can order them from Amazon for cheap, and the chili keeps perfectly in the freezer. My wife will buy like 3 pounds of ground beef and make a big "double batch", separate it out into like 4 or 5 separate containers and toss those in the deep freeze in the basement. The only thing we've learned is that when you make it from the packets, we half the amount of water they tell you to use per packet from 6 cups down to 3 cups.
