January 9, 20188 yr 6 Titles (5 Alabama 1 LSU) tied with Bear Bryant (6 Alabama) Has had Alabama ranked at #1 at some point in the season each of the last 10 seasons. 5 titles in 9 seasons So is Saban without a doubt the college football coaching GOAT? If not who is and explain why?
January 9, 20188 yr Author Is there really an argument against it? A few seasons ago many thought he wasn't even the best coach currently coaching. Just wondering if everyone has come around or if there were still some dissenters.

He seems to really like coaching and doesn't appear to be tired of it. Does he just continue on until he does get tired of it? Will he try to set up his replacement with one of his former assistants to keep what he has built going? -Which one?
January 9, 20188 yr I'd go for 10 then call it quits. Unless he was to win the next 4 straight, then maybe go for 15.

January 9, 20188 yr I think his 6 championships are more impressive than the Bear’s because he has had to do it in the era of the BCS and the playoff system, which adds more legitimacy. Bear’s were all “mythical” titles chosen by pollsters. Bear probably won a few with that format that was debatable and lost a few that were questionable as well. An example on the latter would be the 1966 title that went to Notre Dame which many analysts felt belonged to the Tide. But the point is they were more debatable back then than the current system.
