To answer the question posed in the thread, my vote for CCH (and obviously there is a lot of competition from this year and last) still has to go to Michael Awadalla.

Awadalla, Roch & Popham all deserve some consideration, IMO.

Awadalla just recently gave up football at Northwestern to focus on academics. He's a very smart kid and was having a hard time balancing engineering & football. I think he may even be Pre-Med, too.

It is my understanding that Roch will be a member of the Kentucky football team by next season...

He went to Eastern, but hit the party scene too much and ended up going back ......

Sounds like a few of the football players from my high school alma mater who went to EKU!

Definantly the best kicker for Somerset is probably Wes Midden. Just about every kickoff went in the endzone and he was money. Right now though the Jumpers have a good kicker in John Wright Polk almost all of his kicks are going in the endzone also.

Yes, but one of them managed to stay the course enough to be a starting Offensive Guard for those National Title teams. :thumb:

But one could have been a starting DB if not QB on one of those championship teams and another could have made a much larger impact at TB than he did.

Ben Bosscher for X would be considered. Kicked a 50+ yard field goal to beat Trinity in the state championship game 3-0. X had lost the regular season game. :D

No doubt a great kicker, but I dont recall him hitting a 55, and a 57 yarder. I think he was a better cluch kicker, but I think Shane is a better overall kicker....so my vote for CCH goes to Shane Popham. Some great kickers there though..:thumb:

Where is the Wynn kid from m'boro didn't he go to UK for a while?

Dustin had a scholarship and went to UK for a semester (for coach Mumme). He was not academically eligible. Sometime later he hired an agent, and had a tryout for the Saints. They told him to play Arena football first, then make his way to the NFL. That's the last I heard of his career.

It would be nice to see him on Sundays and Mondays. He had one heck of a leg.

Lynch was an excellent kicker. But the next year it was the Jumpers win over Danville in the AA semi-finals that put Somerset in the State Finals. I remember Somerset controlling Danville's run game well that night. :thumb:

Yeah, I got a little ahead of myself there. Somerset did beat Danville in the semifinals. Lynch had to hit a clutch fieldgoal against Corbin to get them the game with Danville.

Bironas from Trinity currently kicks for the Titans.

Although the best I ever saw was Karl Heinz-Williams.

Personally, if my memory serves the QB/DB was ahead of Tuck Woolum early on but "fell" by the wayside.

I would include Tim Dougherty (X) and Karl-Heinz Williams & Ryan Tydlaka (T) in the mix. The former and latter had tremendous leg strength: Heinz Williams posessed extraordinary accuracy. Chris Gibson of Fern Creek was one of the best and was perhaps even better as a punter. Sam Erny of Manual also merits mention.

It wasn't even close to that far. It was around 30 yards, max. Dennis Edge fumbled the ball around the 7 yard line, and X recovered, lost yards on three plays, and kicked the winner.
