Best kickers in your school's history

Featured Replies

Bironas from Trinity currently kicks for the Titans.

Although the best I ever saw was Karl Heinz-Williams.

I agree 100%.....

Karl and I were pretty close, I still am disappointed that he did not kick D-1....but to be honest, our kicking game at Trinity has been top notch for the last 5-6 seasons....Tydlacka is awesome, but Zlaton Petrovic is a freak.

Tighe Brown was one of the very best punters that I have ever seen.

For Russell it would be Daniel Meko or TJ Pettrey.

I would have to add Clyde Waggoner in with those two good ones just due to the fact of one 47yd. fg he had in the 73'-74' year that hit the crossbar and went over to win a game. I don't believe that I have to say which one.:irked: :irked:

John Tackett from Ashland. Played in the early 70's, He was great on kickoffs.

Aaron Pettrey from Raceland. Possibly the most gifted kicker EVER to play in the state of KY.

For Morgan County we've actually had some very good ones...

1. Olaf Tungsvik--Norway--Foreign exchange could kill it 1995. Bad football team with big time leg of kicker...went to Eastern Kentucky but enjoyed the night life too much. Had professional build and professional leg abilities.

2. Lenny Hasselgren--Holland--Foreign exchange was deadly in the early 1980's...

3. Brian Goforth--Had offer from Penn State and Alabama in 1988. Big time punter.

4. Jerome Olsen--German Foreign exchange made every FG and missed only 1 XP for last year's Morgan County team that went to the playoff's.

5. Keith Elam--Remembered for kicking 39 yard sidewinder vs. Magoffin Co. in Hugo Bowl of 1989. Cougars won 9-7 in monsoon. Also beat Whitesburg in flooded game same year in Overtime.

Lincoln County has had some good placekickers but no great ones.

As for punting, Jason Todd (1984-1987), who is now a State Farm agent in Stanford, was pretty good.

He won some SEC award in 1992 as a punter for UK.

Aaron Pettrey from Raceland. Possibly the most gifted kicker EVER to play in the state of KY.

:thumb: :thumb: I have never or didn't see some of the others mentioned here but I would say that you are probably right. Pettry has an unbelievable leg and is on pace to set a Ohio State kicking/p.a.t. record in his first year in kicking with the Buckeyes! Wasn't there a punter that played at Paris quite a few years ago that went on to Tennesse and punted for the Vols? I can't remember the name but I believe that it was in the 70's.

I think it's great a KY guy playing for Ohio State. And like I've said many great kickers in KY now and in past.

However Pettry seems to be having a hard time kicking FG's, was just on the Official Ohio State Stats:

he is 57.1% on FG's this year and 20/20 on extra points, great 100% but not that many att.

I guess we get spoiled watching UL kick 20 extra points a game. :D :D

Any toe kickers still out there??

Florida had a toe kicker 2 years ago, he only kicked KO's but was like a linebacker running down the field after he kicked it

St. X's Terry Cooper kicked a 52 yarder vs. Bishop David in 1977 at old Cardinal Stadium with no time on the clock just before halftime.

I am surprised that Eagle Eye hasn't mentioned Mark Gotcher. Kicker for LCA the time Pettrey was kicking for Raceland watched both of them kick 50 plus field goals and around 60 yarders during warm ups.

Woo Ashby for Bath County lkicked the ball in the swimming pool.

Mark Collins at Lloyd. He was an All American at EKU, but never caught on in a few NFL tryouts...

I lot of the names I recognize from the past 20+ years. I agree on all accounts. I will add Terry Cooper from St. X to the list. He kicked a 51 yr field goal as time expired in the first half against BD at Old Cardinal Stadium ~1977.

To clairify: Bosschers field goal to beat Trinity in the 1997 State game was 26 yards. The fumble that St. X recovered to set up the field position was recovered at the 16. So, X netted about 7 yards to the 9 on three plays.

The kid from LCA had a great leg. Not many times do you get to see two kickers with that kind of ability in high school.
