Shelby Valleys best kicker was probly Americo, he was an exchange student(cannot remember how to spell his name). I saw him kicking 60-70 field goals and could not punt that well as far as punters I would go with Josh Tackett who could just about put that ball on any part of the field he wanted.

First of all I agree that Aaron's fg% has to be more consistent at The Ohio State University. Your comment about UL kicking your "overblown" 20 pat's a game":confused: :confused: :confused: I don't see what UL has tro do with pride in a local kid (Pettry) being the best kicker from my h.s.. My comments on Aaron at OSU was just some small town pride in a kid that has made it to kicking for the #1 ranked NCAA team in the country. Are you trying to get a shot in on OSU or trying to say that UL is better? If so ttt and start a thread on this subject.

 

Not at all, I think it is great that he plays for them, I watched the texas game only because I knew he played for them. Good for him, family and friends. And great for KY HS football.

JC's best kicker is still playing. James Barrett has to be the best kicker in school history. He can boot the ball. His kick-offs usually go to the goal line and his field goals and p a t's are dead on and have plenty of distance.

I have to give props to Mayfield's current kicker who nailed a 45 yarder with 20 seconds to go to beat Hopkinsville. He rarely ever has a kickoff that isnt a touchback.

Since the thread stated "history"...I nominate Jeff "the Toe" Bathiany from HHS in the early 70's...Uncle to current HHS kicker Drew "the in-step" Bathiany.

Kicking lore I heard around the City/County Bowl. Wynn set the state record by taking some delay of game penalties that backed up the Jackets to the required distance for the new record. (True?) He also used to kick PAT's across the street from "6 Million Dollar Stadium" and once broke the upstairs balcony window(True?). Seems the Bell County kicker, Merrick kicked one that hit the house and landed on same balcony. Bell's kicker is only sophomore! Best is yet to come?

What a game! Difference in coaches, etc. Bell's kicker has only had five attempts in two years!

I also would like to add another kicker at Raceland that was very good in past years. Kenny Lacks was the best punters that I have ever seen in my area. Kenny graduated in 1965 from Raceland and was an excellent placekicker and punter. His punts were unbelievable. He could have imo and talking with manhy others went D1 college football as punter. He got signed up by the U.S. military instead and spent those years in Viet Nam. Just wanted to give a man who is a part of Raceland's past and still continues to work in Raceland youth sports his due.

Maybe their offense was able to put the ball in the end zone a little more than ours.:lol: If I had a kicker with his ability I would certainly use his talents more than that. Special teams play can win you a lot of ball games. Does he attend any summer kicking camps?

Very true Oldrambler but I think he only handled the punting chores. I agree! He has coached many years in all of Raceland/Worthington youth sports since the early 70's and is still doing so.

:thumb: My mistake then on then placekicking. At any rate Kenny meant alot to the Raceland program and still does by his work with the Raceland JFL along with youth baseball and basketball programs.
