Trinity 10 St. X 0

Featured Replies

I have to say though that Trinity's student section was a tad bit more dedicated tonight. Even amidst the torrential downpour there was a considerable contingent over there cheering like there was no tomorrow. While at the same time the St.X students had long since cleared out. Even when the rain got too bad for me in my poncho and I headed under the stands(after more than an hour out there mind you) the kids were still out there.

In fact at one point after the entire St.X student section had cleared the entire Trinity student section ran over to where the X seciton was and started cheering again for a little while. I must say that despite the rain I found that quite amusing. :D

It would seem they played more than just over a minute... :D

1:16 left in the quarter plaeyed 10:44 minutes INTO the quarter. This is no time for semantics. :p :p

I agree with a poster in the "T/X cancellation" thread that said it's a shame for the seniors of both teams who looked forward to this night.

Nevertheless, the Rock Thunder was the REAL storm tonight and not only do they get a W in the books, but proved that last year was no fluke and this team has the potential to be great. Hope they meet again in the playoffs for the all the senior's sake.

Dont act like 4 quarters of football were played. If the game would have been called at the same time last year Trinity wouldnt have won the state title. Trinity didnt prove anything.

X proved that they have a lot of work to do. Very unimpressed with what I saw tonight. I reviewed film from the Highlands game, and was unimpressed with that as well. They aren't getting it done in the trenches and are arm tackling. Phillips was hit by a couple of guys before he got to the line on his long touchdown. Credit him for a nice run, but a poor job of tackling by X's D.

This game goes down as a L in the record book, and it may very well have been a T victory, but I think it's a shame. WAY too early to call it a victory for one team or the other. It would be a real shame if these two didn't get to meet in the playoffs to find out for certain who the better team is for four quarters.

No one said that four quarters had been played. In fact every Trinity fan I spoke with was disappointed with the delay let alone the cancellation. But if you weren't seeing one team dominate another, you weren't watching the same that the rest of the 30,000 were. I think you are wrong about Trinity as well. While we will never know how this game may have played out, I'm pretty certain that it wouldn't have ended like either of the last two regular season contests. I hope that these two teams will have a chance at a rematch in November.

Victor's recovery should be fairly quick. I wouldnt even rule out playing time at Manual in a week. The St X trainers will have Vic back on the field sooner than we would expect--I'm sure he is in great hands.

Where did you hear this info, most sources are reporting 3-6 weeks.

I was 100%impressed with the Rocks. I liked Glaser's idea to take the ball, but Trinity's defense held, and that set the tone for the game "that we had". Of course we can't know the full outcome, BUT St. Xavier showed NO signs of being able to put up a fight early. I will take this "w" and move on, good luck, St. Xavier the rest of the way, hope to see you again.

How weird would it be if this was the only time T and X play each other this year? Not even and entire quarter. Unprecedented?

X was flat out getting handled in the first quarter, and I really believe Trinity would have put it in the endzone again and went up 17-0 before the 1st quarter was over...But, we'll never know, we can just take what we saw in those 10:44 and make our assesments from that.

Trinity had 1st and Ten within the red zone and settled for a field goal. To say with certaintly that they would have scored from the 35 is a bit assuming.

Credit Trinity for capitalizing, but X handed them a few gifts. History proves X would have settled in and it would have been a whale of a game.

Just curious why the game wouldn't be completed today? Most of NKy was delayed due to weather and most of them are rescheduled to start where the game left off this afternoon.

Seems to me that a game that is this important to T & X would be completed even if you have to line them up in a sandlot.
