X didn't play like X for the 10 minutes the "game" was played. To say that the game would have been 13 or 17-0 with T having the ball is a bit presumptious. X's D did a fine job of holding T to a field goal with the ball inside the redzone.

 

I just hope that a full game is played in November. I'm willing to bet that X isn't going to hand the ball to T twice like that.

 

I'd say that 13 was pretty much the best the Tigers could hope for. JMO.

 

I think you guys might want to think a little harder about the game before that potential rematch or you may be on the outside looking in.

This game didn't start until 8PM while the others started at 7:30.

Can we all agree on the following stipulations?

 

1) Both St. X and Trinity agreed to end this game as a "no contest" and that the "winner" was only determined by the rules. The AD's and coaches intended that this would be a "no contest" result and understood that it could not be made up later in the season.

2) Players on either team would have finished this game in the parking lot if given the option just to prevent the speculation and projections that fill this thread. This situation does not serve either team.

3) St. X did not execute on offense or defense for 10+ minutes. Trinity seemed to execute their game plan with precision and certainly took advantage of St. X mistakes in the first 10 minutes.

4) The outcome of any high school football game can rarely be projected on the first 10 minutes of the contest and 10 points certainly does not represent domination.

5) ESP and psychic predictions are generally accepted as unreliable by the scientific community.

6) Both of these outstanding teams from St. X and Trinity will meet again in the playoffs and all questions will be answered.

While I would love to agree with you on this, I just can't. I hope its true because it certainly would be a huge payday for both schools. I have posted since the beginning of the season that Male may be the best team in the state at this point IMO. With Anderson's status up in the air, I certainly wouldn't assume an X victory over Male. Good luck to X and Vic and I hope to see you play the rocks in the playoffs.

I said before the game that the best thing for X would be a soaking rain to deter T's passing attack. Goes to show that sometimes the worst that can happen is you get what you wish for. Congrats Rocks-good game. I've got a feeling that a rematch is in these team's futures.

Correct me if I am wrong but, did a X guy and a T guy agree on 5 out of 6 stipulations regarding the St. X - Trinity game? WOW... my monitor just flashed! In some circles that may be considered a miracle. :thumb:

Male certainly is tough and X will certainly be challenged without Anderson however, Anderson does not represent the only weapon on this team and I am confident that other leaders will emerge. My recollection from the "deluge game" is that Deuce had gained several yards and was carrying a couple of Shamrock tacklers when the ball was skillfully punched out by a Trinity defender. Great defense! Clearly, Deuce has demonstrated that he can run the ball. Ball handling is a correctable technique and I have no doubt that all of our backs will rise to the occassion.

The first drive was aided by a stupid facemasking penalty on X. The X man was face-masking Petrino away from the ball....and that kept T's drive alive....Phillips then had a very nice run where from the replay showed 2 X defenders falling down to open up the hole....probably was a fine quick cut from Phillips.

 

Trinity's first drive started deep in their own territory. They got two first downs, then on a jet sweep, on first down there was an INADVERTENT face mask giving them 5 yards, which lead to a first and 2. The next play X stopped Trinity for negative yardage. The next play, Tim took it to the house. Pretty cut and dry, if you ask me, and your face mask was not a direct corellation as to Trinity's score. Trinity absolutely out phsyicalled X for the second "showing" in a row. X is a great team, and may still win state, but I would be concerned about their lack of physicality, especially with the front 7.

An offense based on Duece and Zoeller running the ball would play right into the hands of that "Junkyard Dawg" defense of Bobby Redman. They are both very talented but if Anderson can't come back it greatly reduces X's chances. Coach Glaser has called Vic maybe the best back we've ever had, thats pretty lofty praise. Earl Cox said that Vic is the best back in Jefferson County since Sherman Lewis. Sorry, as I've said, I would love for both schools to get another shot.

It goes to show that maybe the Trinity students were not too smart last night! The lightning was striking and the security even tried to get those kids to go inside. I must say that I am glad the St. X students were smart enough to take cover!

that's pretty much all I've read so far about this game. The REAL game will be the third weekend of November. I wouldn't put too much stock into this game, but, nevertheless, congratulations to Trinity for taking control of this game from the beginning and coming out with the W.

Amazing how MBA could stage a comeback in the fourth quarter on Trinity, at their home field, but St. X in no way, shape, or form is capable of overcoming a 10 point deficit in the first quarter.

 

Actually, history in this rivalry says that neither team can overcome a 10 point margin.
