How wide open was that tight end on that pick??? I was expecting a 15 yd gain until the ball was 10 yds short.

 

This must be a green and gold thing, a tight end is standing fifteen yards away with a LB directly in front of him and he is "wide open"? It was a poor throw, but it should have never been thrown. Bad decision, bad toss, bad result (for the Tigers) result: QB gets yanked. Had the game continued, I think we would have seen the Tigers run, run, run...

LSU, not sure where you were located, but from my vantage, it looked like the LB was about 5 yards in front of the TE. It ws just a poor throw. Had it not been, it would have been an easy pick up.

Funny thing is that it was not nearly as poor a throw as Petrino missing a wide open receiver for a touchdown. At least the Trinity defense had to make a play for the interception to occur. St. X did nothing to keep Petrino from overthrowing his man, short of making him step up out of the pocket.

I agree he was five yards in front of the TE, Thats my point. If the QB puts enough air under the ball to get over the LB the LB closes and covers. The QB didn't even seem to see the LB standing between him and his receiver. My point is he wasn't wide open. A great throw might have been caught, but the throw was to the TE on a line and the LB stepped in and cut it off. Get play by #42 (Weitlauf) on a less than great throw.

I did not want to agrue on if he was open or not. It was just one of 4 errors that we dug our hole with, whether he was open or not. From where I sat I would have thrown the ball.

 

The quick hitter we fumbled on was a nice run on an old school X dive play. Our O line must get more of a push to give Vic and Duece time to gather speed.

If he goes out who takes the load? Would he be a major loss like Vic would be for us?

He did overthrow that one. I thought for sure he was going to be sacked, and then I thought for sure it would have been another 7 for trinity.

 

I don't know much about QB throwing motion. but the ones he overthrows, is it because he's 5"8' and has to throw upwards, or is it just a poor motion that even a 6"3' QB could throw??? Anybody know??

I've seen games that go a full 48 minutes be analyzed to death. Now we're analyzing a game that went 10 1/2 minutes to death!

Can we all agree on the following stipulations?

 

1) Both St. X and Trinity agreed to end this game as a "no contest" and that the "winner" was only determined by the rules. The AD's and coaches intended that this would be a "no contest" result and understood that it could not be made up later in the season.

2) Players on either team would have finished this game in the parking lot if given the option just to prevent the speculation and projections that fill this thread. This situation does not serve either team.

3) St. X did not execute on offense or defense for 10+ minutes. Trinity seemed to execute their game plan with precision and certainly took advantage of St. X mistakes in the first 10 minutes.

4) The outcome of any high school football game can rarely be projected on the first 10 minutes of the contest and 10 points certainly does not represent domination.

5) ESP and psychic predictions are generally accepted as unreliable by the scientific community.

6) Both of these outstanding teams from St. X and Trinity will meet again in the playoffs and all questions will be answered.

Trinity has several other weapons besides #5. Matter of fact, St. X JV had to be impressed with Trinitys other sophmore RB. There are a few other people on offense who are just as fast as #5. The entire defensive unit could be considered as a weapon, but we won't go there.

 

As for the passes made by both QB's, Wade under threw his man and Petrino's pass was thrown very off balance, body going one way and the arm going the other. Petrino probably should of tucked it and ran it in for 6. Hope both teams meet again this year......

Not sure what you are referring to. I clearly stated I have not seen Trinity and was curious what other weapons they had. Thanks for the answer.
