All this drama should all make for an interesting AAAA finals rematch, if indeed it happens this year.

This year it would happen in the third round. But your point is well taken. It should make for an interesting matchup. I think that this game, even though shortened, will prove a big help to X, much as last years game was a big wake up for Trinity. I look for X to play much better in a rematch.

Thats funny but... X loves to spead you out and run the QB draw. They have done it many times.

Very astute analysis, if a rematch occurs. X still has to get out of a district with Male, PRP and Manual, and is unsure about the return of Anderson. T should be there, as I don't see major obstacles in their path.

Tiger 2023... was refering to others comments that started oozing out regarding schedules. When Trinity hand picks every game they play then we can go down that path. Your comments were all cool. 2023 the year your son grads????

I never talk about districting and/or schedules. I wish we both were able to play better teams week in and week out. I feel it would make us better able to compete with the Cincy and Indy schools. It does little good for us to beat teams by 20 plus 6 or more times a year...

I would like to think it would be the same as 1999 when the number#1 ranked Tigers were schocked by #2 Trinity when they went up 14-0 in the first quarter. The Tigers regrouped and ground out a 28-14 victory. Who knows T wins big or X comes back? I think a rematch in the playoffs is called for. But for that to happen X would have to face Male first. The season is still young and the jury is still out until after the Manual,PRP,Male regular season games before speculating about the playoffs. For now beat Manual.

In 1999 Trinity scored on their second drive, X answered. Trinity then scored again, X answered, but we missed the kick. 14-13 Rocks at the half. Second half was total domination by X to win 28-14.

In 1985, Trinity was down 14-0 in the third quarter. They scored a safety in the third quarter and then a touchdown in the 4th quarter. In a driving rain storm (no lightning), Trinity drove the length of the field, converting two fourth downs for a late fourth quarter touchdown and a two point conversion for a 17-14 win in regulation. Trinity went on to win Coach Dennis Lampley's first state title as a head coach.

Question for X fans. I thought it was unusual to see Coach Glaser win the toss and take the ball to start the game. Has he done this in the past or is this a new twist? I've seen him coach quite a few games over the years and he usually likes to kickoff play defense and get the ball to start the second half. Anybody know why the change of plans?

Obviously, he changed his mind.... I would be surprised that Friday was the first time ever that he has won the toss and elected to receive. I believe that a coach has the responsibility to make change as one see fit. I really feel that that decision had no influence on the outcome of the quarter.

Coach Glaser could have chosen to take the ball instead of deferring for one of two reasons or both:

 

1. Much like Charlie Weis at ND, he has a lot of confidence in the Tiger offense and thought they would have an excellent chance of jumping out on top.

 

2. Coach Glaser may have known that the weather could cause the type of problem which eventually materialized, and the more offensive opportunities the Tigers had the better the chances of being ahead in a potentially suspended game.

 

I guess we'll never know for certain, as these are mere suppositions on my part.

Who made the decision not to play the rest?

Can we all agree on the following stipulations?

 

1) Both St. X and Trinity agreed to end this game as a "no contest" and that the "winner" was only determined by the rules. The AD's and coaches intended that this would be a "no contest" result and understood that it could not be made up later in the season.

It is the A.D.s job to know the KHSAA and National Federatiopn rules. In this case probably 51%/49% more St.X's responsibility as they were the home team. I wonder if the X A.D. had known it would go down as a loss if he would have tried harder to finish the game on Monday? (I'm sure it's a lot easier to accept a "no contest" when you are down 10-0 and your opponent has the ball on your side of the field.)

I have a lot of T and X friends. Without any doubt, the T people wanted the game to resume a LOT more than my X friends.

What? Don't you think your assertions regarding the apparent lack of knowledge of the KHSAA rules in this situation are equally insulting to both Coach Lampley and Coach Donhoff. I am not sure that I know two more competitive men than these two very talented athletic directors and I am quite confident that the primary concern on their collective minds was the relative safety of the athletes and the fans. Are you suggesting that either of these men would sacrifice safety for the sake of a win or to satisfy tradition. This was a non-district game (albeit a very big game) and as such the risk benefit of continuing the game under those conditions was poor at best. I can assure you that it is much more important that St. X beat district opponent Manual this week than it would be to satisfy you to play this game on Monday. Finally, I don't care what sport you play it is impossible to "accept" a no contest in any circumstance when you have worked your tail off to compete for as long as both of these teams have only to see the outcome end up as an anomaly for people to banter about on BGP. About your final comment regarding your T and X friends, since I assume that those T and X friends were not wearing equipment Friday night I'm quite sure that their opinions are not representative of the feelings and heartbreak expressed by the players and coaches on both teams. I can assure you that they all wanted to finish this game!
