Who made the decision not to play the rest?

 

The postgame meeting was made up of the officials, Papa John's executive staff, the two coaches and the two athletic directors. The decision was made by the coaches and AD's. The officials moderate the discussion but are not part of the decision making.

I personally think that the greatest loss Friday was for the Seniors on both teams, particularly if they didn't get to play, or play much last year. This is the game that you play for all through grade school and high school, and finally it's your night-Your game-Your Senior year. For that reason, if no other, we need to hope for a rematch.

I threw my own private little tantrum on Friday night. My first thought was "Just find a place, don't worry about the crowd". Upon reflection, no venue other than PJCS is big enough to handle the crowd. Trying to have it at a facility that is too small posed real crowd control safety issues. PJCS was not available. No one likes it, but the administrators made the right call. I do hope that they meet again in the playoffs, but at that point in the season the important thing is to be playing. Who you play doesn't matter.

Was the P.A. guy St. X's normal announcer? I've never heard a P.A. guy do play by play.

Don't the participating schools keep the gate for all playoff games prior to the final? I can't imagine Trinity wanting to play a possible rematch at home (and forego all of that gate revenue due to capacity limitations). Not to mention the fan outrage at not having an adequate venue to watch a rematch given what happened in the first game.

Yes he was. It was X's home game and when it is T's home game they use the T announcer. It flip-flops every year.

Yep. I believe Papa John's has already been reserved just in case.

I believe T is home, and I have wondered about this issue. At least one instance comes to mind when X was home but elected to play at Papa John's. Since private schools are not subsidized by the taxpayer, I would guess that T would elect to play at Papa John's, should the opportunity arise.

I know that for the regular season matchup Trinity and X get the game for free, but have to surrender the concessions revenue. I wonder what the exact makeup would be for this game. Also, if it were to end up being Male -vs- Trinity, would they go to the pizza box as well? I say no.

From my read of the 2006 4A brackets, the District 4 team has homefield given that it's an even year. However this assumes that the District 4 and District 5 teams have equal seeds. I can't imagine a scenario where Trinity wouldn't be seeded #1 out of their district or wouldn't make it to round 3. But with X, H, and PRP, District 4 could easily have a #2 seed make it to round 3. I'd say the Rocks have a decent chance of having homefield even though the odd/even rotation may not favor them.

I think the only real question is if the round 3 game is Male (#2 seed) vs. Trinity (#1 seed), would the game be played at Trinity or the Pizza Box? I would think that if Male is a #1 seed and makes it to round 3 then they would choose to play at home against Trinity as it should play more to their advantage.

So PJCS had something already taken on Sunday afternoon...that is hard to believe that they could not have found a way to get the game in this past Sunday...they would have been a fool not to have found a way to get it in with all the concessions they would have lost out on with playing on a Sunday giving the other teams fans around the Louisville area a chance to see this fierce rivalry...just an outsiders opinion! Or would have playing on Sunday violated a parochial rule of some kind. Down here Mayfield and Tilghman...another pretty good rivalry...we cancelled our game Friday night and played it mid-afternoon Sunday to give the fans and kids a chance to go to church on Sunday morning and plenty of time to get to church that night if they so wanted to, and you could not have asked for a better crowd for a high school game at a high school field.

 

Here's hoping that these two teams can meet again in the playoffs for a right to determine the better team for a full game.

X starts district play this week against another rival, and I think both coaches are more concerned about their district schedule.

Why wasn't the game replayed at Manual Stadium on Saturday? That way you could have a "true winner" Keep the money for ticket sales and let in as many as possible on Saturday with no charge. This might be already mentioned, just too lazy to read all the posts.
