Trinity 10 St. X 0

Featured Replies

X could have "stormed" back in the second half... or there could have been a running clock by the third quarter.... we'll never know for sure.

Exciting 10 minutes of the game. T came out strong. X came out flat. Very disappointed that the game had to end that way.

Thanks to my two friends who helped me out and I am sorry you only got three minutes of turf time. ;)

Just curious why the game wouldn't be completed today? Most of NKy was delayed due to weather and most of them are rescheduled to start where the game left off this afternoon.

Seems to me that a game that is this important to T & X would be completed even if you have to line them up in a sandlot.

I know that the stadium was booked. The weather here was not looking good for the weekend. T/X have no open dates...other than that I don't know.

Trinity had 1st and Ten within the red zone and settled for a field goal. To say with certaintly that they would have scored from the 35 is a bit assuming.

Credit Trinity for capitalizing, but X handed them a few gifts. History proves X would have settled in and it would have been a whale of a game.

I smell a bit of homerism...:sssh:

We will never know, but X didn't show much sign of life in this one. As far as history goes, its just that... history. I think if you add up the fact that X's QB was pulled after throwing a pick, X's star back would not have been able to return, his sophmore replacement had just fumbled in the biggest game of his life to this point. It doesn't paint a "comeback" picture. X was down 7-6 to Highlands at half, when they came back out it was a steady diet of Vic to the rescue. X isn't the same team without him. Good luck, and I hope these two teams get a rematch in November.

It is a shutout with an asterisk I suppose.... but when was the last time X was shutout????

If this were just another game it might work. Heck, I guess we could have played today at Marshall Stadium. But it is a game that draws 38,000 fans and an event like that can't be turned on a dime I guess. Not the end of the world, both teams can take care of business and meet again (although the Male Bulldogs may have something to say about that).

16-0 in 2002 I believe (in four quarters).

I have to say though that Trinity's student section was a tad bit more dedicated tonight. Even amidst the torrential downpour there was a considerable contingent over there cheering like there was no tomorrow. While at the same time the St.X students had long since cleared out. Even when the rain got too bad for me in my poncho and I headed under the stands(after more than an hour out there mind you) the kids were still out there.

In fact at one point after the entire St.X student section had cleared the entire Trinity student section ran over to where the X seciton was and started cheering again for a little while. I must say that despite the rain I found that quite amusing. :D

It goes to show that maybe the Trinity students were not too smart last night! The lightning was striking and the security even tried to get those kids to go inside. I must say that I am glad the St. X students were smart enough to take cover!

Silly comment not needed on this forum.

T played a great 10 minutes and earned respect. According to the rules...that both sides do not like....the get the W. I think everyone involved would have liked to see the end of this one....

Your comments ..however...are very similiar to talk about UL this year...they can't get it done without Bush...they're QB is out.....The Miami game started very similiar for UL and you see what happened....

We will never know...Congrats on the win T....for the only 10 minutes that counted...you earned it...

St. Xavier showed no life. They did hold us on a 3rd down in the red zone, with Nick overthrowing a WIDE open Nick Mellilo. Oh Blah Dee. Comparing X's skill positions, and UL's is not comparable. X was not looking to be in good shape, they weren't going to get yards in between the tackles, which is where Deuce flourishes....Vic did get the edge a couple of times, but we tackled, VERY VERY well. Great game Rocks, good luck Tigers.

Sorry, but when Mike went down against UK the Cards already had plenty of points to win (just like the Rocks it turns out). When Stripling and Smith came in it was more of the same. When "The Duece" came in he responded by coughing up the ball. No, I've seen the both the Tigers and the Cards this year, and I have seen both Coach Glaser and Coach Petrino over the years and the formers are not the equal of the latters.

I am not trying to compare X's skill players with UL's...just trying to show that games are not won in the 1st Q....and a good team is more than just one player.....I was using UL as an example....

We could look back in history for about any team and show where they came back from the 1Q...its not uncommon at all...

Like I said...Congrats Trinity on the win.

Dont act like 4 quarters of football were played. If the game would have been called at the same time last year Trinity wouldnt have won the state title. Trinity didnt prove anything.

Didn't prove anything? C'mon, Delta, you're usually one of the most reasonable people on this board. Trinity came out and took control from the first time they had the ball. Plus they had all the momentum in the world when they intercepted the ball and were getting ready to go on offense again when the game was called.

It reminded a lot of Louisville-Miami last weekend.
