  1. It helps when your head coach played for the Chicago Bears, volunteers at NIKE camps all over the country and is close personal friends with dozens of college coaches some of whom you played with. Lets just say coach Douglas knows how to help his kids get noticed. Its still up to the player to perform and get offers. Trotwood is stacked this year. Should be a preseason top 10 National pick.
  2. Congrats Raiders on what I believe is Ryle's first Regional Title. You make us proud each and every day. RRD
  3. Not that it matters much but the split between boys and girls at Ryle is about 55% girls (880) and 45% boys (720). So to have 100+ varsity football players works out to be about 1 in 7 boys will suit up.
  4. First time Ryle is faced with the issue of how to number the jersey. In the past I have seen rosters from other teams with two 99's, two 55's, etc... Would have never thought it would happen at Ryle. Although this may only be temporary since the new school in Boone County is slated to open in two years which will dilute the talent pool once again. Everyone says that with the projected growth of Boone County it will not effect the athletics. I can't see how it won't have an impact. What are others thoughts? How do teams with more than 99 varsity players assign jersey numbers? Do you have a roster with 99 & 99B? How accurate are the stats if you sub 99 with 99B?
  5. Having had an opportunity to meet Trotwood Madison coach Maurice Douglas while visiting UK this past summer I can honestly say he is a class act. He played for the Chicago Bears and gets his team ready to play. I hope to see this game in person. Being from Kentucky I'll be rooting for Highlands even though it goes against my nature.
  6. Chris Pridgen is still waying his options. I heard he was leaning toward Thomas More. Ryan Luster to Mt. Union, not sure which school Huth & Rabe are leaning. I haven't heard if Kicker Ross has received offers but I think he would be an assest to any team.
  7. From what I know so far Ryle's Vince Murray has signed with Navy, Scott Gray will be playing at Marshall & Greg Gillum will play for Thomas More. There are several others still considering D-III schools. Congratulations! I can't wait to see you all continue playing at the next level. I will always be one of your biggest fans. RRD
  8. Ryle started spring ball last week and by the way they look they worked hard in the weight room too.
  9. I just read in another post that the Ryle & Highlands game thought to be held at PBS will played at Ryle. According to the poster the PBS thing fell through. It would have been nice to see this one played at PBS but a home game is still awesome.
  10. I guess you consider 17 state titles penalizing Trinity. If thats the case please penalize Ryle.:thumb: As for Henderson they hand pick the 35 players they put uniforms on. That's there choice not KHSAA's. Numbers do matter or do you suggest we have NCC or Ludlow play in 6-A.
  11. I have lived in three states other than Ky. in the past 15 or so years and have never seen an alignment that puts up schools with male enrollments in excess of 1000 against schools in the 700 range. Trinity and X 2-year average is double most NKY schools. To me it just doesn't make sense.
  12. And I can't wait to see a great game. I believe its being played at Paul Brown Stadium.
  13. Great. Now lets realign by male enrollment and play for a couple years and see if Male wins state year in and year out. I am sure they wouldn't mind since they wouldn't have to compete against Trinity and X every year for the title. Look I am only offering an opinion for how I could see realignment working better than it does now. I don't care if you are private or public. The alignment should be based on the number of male or female enrollment. Again only my opinion.
  14. Where do you get that. Ryle's varsity hasn't played Highlands or Cov Cath in a real game for as long as I can remember.
  15. And by the way where did I ever mention public versus private. You must be reading more into what I wrote. I don't care whether the school is public or private. In my scenario Henderson would most likely end up in the same class as Trinity.
  16. I never said to split off Highlands and CC. Come on Rock I know you can read. What I said in the earlier post was set up the classes by the number of boys or girls in that particular school. However that turns out I have no problems with Ryle, Boone, Connor or any other school being in a particular bracket. Heck I don't even know for sure how the classes would turn out. But it does seem to make more sense than having schools with 1400 boys play any school with half as many year in and year out. People didn't like the old system and now don't seem to like the new one. What do you suggest?
  17. I guess because my screen name is RRD you guys believe I am talking about Ryle specifically. This is not sour grapes I am talking about all of NKY big schools. Do they work hard? Yes. Do they put time in the weight room? Yes. Do they give 110% with blood, sweat and tears? Yes. Do you believe your teams in Louisville win because they simpy work harder? That would be a joke. The numbers are off balance and will continue to be. Look at history. I will end this debate for now, but mark my words people on BGP will continue this conversation for years while I turn my interest towards watching my son on Saturdays.
  18. While I will agree Ryle is a relatively young program, Dixie, Connor and Boone are not. Name the last time Boone, Connor or Dixie won the State title. That's right they haven't. And to use Highlands as your example made me laugh. I put Cov Cath & Highlands in the same category as the Louisville big three. How many Boone, Ryle, Connor & Dixie kids play or have played at CC or Highlands? Plenty. IMO unless things change all we will be able to continue to talk about is who can compete instead of how many times we would win titles.
  19. I read my post again and I still don't see a complaint about our Raiders losing to the Rocks. What I read is an observation and opinion about the state of football in Kentucky. I keep reading over and over that NKY 4-A now 6-A can't compete against the Big three and it's my opinion that until real changes occur in how the classes and playoffs are managed we will continue to see domination by the Bigger schools (when I say bigger I am referring to the number of boys in each school). Ryle had a great season and as I have stated a dozen times, I am proud of each and everyone of the players and coaches.
  20. Congrats to all who made the list and a special congrats to Ryle's Vince Murray who was named Player of the Year. Great job by all.
  21. I personaly want the talk to keep coming about how a NKY team will never beat one of the big three. IMO the more talk the more case is being built for separate classes or some other fix. I know this thread is not for this topic so I will end it with this... The best way KHSAA can fix the playoff problems is not adding more or separate classes, its having a school with 800 boys play similar size schools and the big three with 1200-1400 boys can play themselves over and over or play schools from Cincinnati, Indy, Columbus, Nashville, etc. who have open districts such as themselves. But that will never happen either since the Big three would start losing games and the money, power and KHSAA are all in Lexington & Louisville.
  22. I also think being a Thursday night might have played a factor.
  23. From what I saw the Raiders fan base outnumbered the Rocks and I for one spent over $500 on apparrel since this was our first trip to the finals. IMO it was the rain more than the level of competition.
  24. Unfortunatly any injury can be serious when it's advertised in statewide papers and you are hoping to play football at the next level. I wish him the best. He played an outstanding game. Good arm, great decisions, mobile...only drawback is his size and height. IMO I could see him playing DII barring any major injuries.
  25. The link below is in regards to an article that took me by suprise today. I wasn't aware that Nick Petrino was injured during last weeks Championship game. Is he OK? http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061208/SPT030201/612080384/1068/SPT
