jericho Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Here is a list of all that died and after looking over it there are some pretty outstanding people that we lost. Celebrity Deaths in 2
UKMustangFan Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 None, I didn't personally have a connection to any of them.
jericho Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 None, I didn't personally have a connection to any of them. I had no connection either but felt more sad about Carrie Fisher.
Getslow Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Umberto Eco and Alan Rickman are the two I was a huge fan of that were doing great work right up until the day they died so their absence is probably the most jarring to me. Was watching Gwen Ifill on PBS News every week until two weeks before her death. Still weird to watch or listen to Washington Week and have her not be there.
Beechwoodfan Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 I was a big Elvis Presley fan. Can't say I was personally hurt by it, but it was one of those "I remember where I was when I heard " moments.
Irish Cat Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Hurt probably isn't the right word, but if I had to pick one I'm gonna go with Merle.
Bengal Maniac Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 They are all sad, obviously. The one I will miss the most is difficult, Arnie, followed closely by Ali. Probably why Arnie is because Ali was just a shell of himself for a long time before death. In music Glenn Frey for me.
TAC Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 None, I didn't personally have a connection to any of them. I feel the same way. I understand how they can be an influence in your life, but never got it when people go over board about it.
gchs_uk9 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Heath Ledger really hit me hard for some reason. We were basically the same age and I was a big fan of several of his movies, but I was hardly some star-struck kid or anything. I remember hearing on the way to a UK basketball game that he had passed away and I just sort of blanked for a while. Only time that has ever happened to me. I guess the age similarities made my own mortality seem a little more possible.
hoops5 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 I feel the same way. I understand how they can be an influence in your life, but never got it when people go over board about it. Agree. Will say that this year Bowie and Prince briefly knocked the wind out of my sails. After that, just gotta keep on keeping on for all those who depend on you every day.
B-Ball-fan Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Wow...somehow it got by me that Frank Sinatra Jr. had died. It puzzles me because I would have thought that I would have heard something. Arnold Palmer is without doubt my main man. For years I've been a collector of Arnie memorabilia and no one else even comes close. I've never actively collected anything else so passionately other than my music collection. I had people calling me when he had died to console me just about like they would have if he was a member of my own family. I felt honored that they associated me with him. They'll never be another Arnie. He was the greatest example ever of a celebrity male flawlessly for decades demonstrating how to humbly conduct oneself with grace, kindness, and style. The second one on the list that stands out to me would be John Glenn. He in many ways felt like the same type of gentleman from the same era as Arnie.
LIPTON BASH Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 None, I didn't personally have a connection to any of them. Ditto
gametime Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Phife Dawg. A Tribe Called Quest was a huge part of my musical taste growing up. i still tear up a little when I hear him on a verse. His mastery of social commentary mixed perfectly with Q Tip and his political slant...
