November 9, 20169 yr The Electoral College was a stroke of genius on the part of the Founding Fathers.
November 9, 20169 yr I believe that Trump said a lot of the things that we all think, but are afraid to say. Underneath his vengeance for Clinton, he has a pretty solid platform, and hit on the things that really need to be done. He is also an independent business man, and unlike Clinton, beholden to no one.
November 9, 20169 yr A serious question about this - when political polls on the front side are proven so wrong, why would we place trust in exit polls? Front polls have lost some validity due to the decrease in land lines. They also have lost some validity because people basically do not want to tell someone what they are thinking only to have it splashed across the airwaves. Maybe they are more likely to give an honest answer when asked directly and it is fresh on their mind...or maybe the exit polls do not include the pollster's bias.
November 9, 20169 yr Also people are sick of the same stuff in DC. Nothing getting done. Tired of the same old people running.
November 9, 20169 yr Also people are sick of the same stuff in DC. Nothing getting done. Tired of the same old people running. Again though, Congressional incumbents still mostly won, even though Congressional approval ratings are dismally low. Very few flips with state Governors as well. I think saying people are sick of the same old thing is an easy explanation that really doesn't tell the whole story. Because aside from the office of President, the voting public by and large stuck with the same old thing.
November 9, 20169 yr What caused Hillary's downfall? Start with Obamacare. The media (surprise) is ignoring the anger in the country over rapidly rising healthcare premiums and rapidly falling coverage. People mainly affected by this? White working class who pay their own premiums. How many people did Hillary insult with her "Basket of Deplorables" comment? The Clintons took millions of dollars in "donations" from big banks. The Clintons took millions of dollars from foreign governments. Benghazi. She went to coal producing states and said she was going to destroy the coal industry. Free College. (nothing is free) She was loose and careless with Classified Government Documents. And this is just the crap she has done in the last five or six years.
November 9, 20169 yr Very easy to figure out her downfall. 1. She was as corrupt as could be. She sold this country down the river while she was Sec of State so she could line her own pockets. She made deals with this country's enemies simply to get donations to her foundation. She sold weapons to our enemies and Isis. 2. She hadn't accomplished anything while in gov't the last 30 years. Many people still remember what a nightmare she was as first lady. Travelgate, National Healthcare etc. were disasters and her time as Sec of State was a disaster. 3. She was proven not trustworthy and her entire campaign the last several months was hypocritical. She would talk about not running a nasty campaign yet ever single one of her ad's she ran on TV were nasty toward Trump. She talked about his treatment of women but would showcase performers like Beyonce and Jay Z who would perform their music filled with sexist and dirty lyrics, everything she was supposedly against. If Hillary wanted anyone to believe the things she said, she needed to back it up. Don't go out ripping Trump for remarks he made 11 years ago while her own supporters were saying much worse things. Don't claim Trump to be racist without any proof to back your claims up. Everything about her campaign was wrong. Everything she said she said according to the audience she had in front of her. Then tapes were presented of her saying just the opposite almmost every single time. The DNC lost the election because they were arrogant enough to think they could run a corrupt campaign and nominate who the leaders of the DNC wanted and not who the people wanted as their nominee. When it was proven the DNC was going to do whatever they could to make Sanders lose the nomination so they could put Hillary in it backfired on them. They couldn't prevent the country from finiding out about their corruption and it started with the Super Delegate game they tossed out there. When Sanders wins a primary and the DNC changes the votes by declaring SuperDelegates can vote for whoever they wanted no matter who the people voted for, well the fix was in. That is why Hillary lost. How bad can you be to lose to Obama 8 years ago and then lose to Trump? Lol, she was a horrible candidate. It was also very sad to hear many of her supporters simply voting for her because she was a woman. That is what is wrong with politics today. Now on the bright side, there is something this election brought that is awesome. This election will force both major parties to tear down and start over again and hopefully realize people voted for change and that change is to end the monopoly of career politicians only out for themselves. They voted an outsider in with zero experience for a reason. Because they are tired of those who have run this country into the ground the last decade plus. If the 2 major parties want to survive this they need to take a long hard look in the mirror and change the way they operate. The big winner is not Trump, but America because of the Supreme Court will be set up like it should be hopefully for our lifetime.
November 9, 20169 yr Hillary is just an unlikeable person. Nothing about her is genuine and most people can see that.
November 9, 20169 yr It also proves the media was as corrupt as any too. They thought they could dictate the America who to vote for. They predicted Hillary would win by 84% Well Trump just came back from a 3-1 deficit which seems to be the thing this year. The media helped cause Hillary's loss also because they said it was going to be such a landslide victory that it kept democratic voters home because they didn't think they needed to vote. I love it. The pompous media got a dose of their own medicine and the American Citizens flipped them the bird yesterday when they cast their votes.
November 9, 20169 yr Downfall in my mind would be 1. people not admitting that they voted for trump that did 2. democrats buying the HRC landslide hype may have kept some home 3.republicans buying the landslide hype may have become driven to show 4.3rd party candidates 5. the email fiasco 6.HRC being in the establishment camp
November 9, 20169 yr No, I don't. Purely my opinion here, but... Black people didn't get out and vote for Clinton like they did BO, and rural white Americans got out and voted for Trump more than they did for Romney. This is how it appears.
November 9, 20169 yr Question for those who think HRC was unlikable. Is President Elect Trump likable? If so, what is likable about him?
November 9, 20169 yr Question for those who think HRC was unlikable. Is President Elect Trump likable? If so, what is likable about him?I think it's way more than "unlikeable". Trump is unlikeable. Hillary is corrupt, and had she not been, I think the country was willing and able to elect a woman. I'm sure it's way more than that and the reasons are extremely varied among the voting public, but that's my view anywho.
