The DNC sealed it's own fate when they decided eight years ago that it would be Clinton's turn to be President in 2016. I took that more than anything through her nominating process; it was her turn. Despite having the super-delegates on her side, Clinton had to battle through the primary to beat Bernie Sanders. Let that sink in. And people expected her to waltz to the White House? Joe Biden must be sick this morning.

Black people didn't get out and vote for Clinton like they did BO, and rural white Americans got out and voted for Trump more than they did for Romney. Your opinion seems to match the numbers mostly. The Dem 'strong holds in the 3 key states varied. Pennsylvania drew similar numbers in the two main cities as in 2012 for the Dems. But the rural was stronger this year than in 2012. And that is the deference. Cuyahoga was way under 2012. It was the key for BHO in 2012. Franklin (Columbus) was actually better for HRC this year. In Florida - Broward was down but Miami-Dade was way up for the Dems.
November 9, 20169 yr Bad candidate but let's remember that she did get the most votes. I bet if we search the files we will see Trump supporters saying the person with the most votes should be POTUS. Lets see on the popular vote. There is still lots of clean up. And its amazing how that usually breaks.

We now have two elections in the past 16 years where a Dem won the popular vote and lost the Electoral College, yet I am pretty sure Republicans are more against the Electoral College than Democrats. I hear it from both sides, but it mostly comes from Republicans. I go back and forth on the Electoral College.
November 9, 20169 yr While standing in line to vote yesterday morning, the two gentlemen behind me were vocal in their support for Trump & equally vocal in their disdain for the Electoral College. Same way with most of the people on my facebook page that were for Trump. They were bashing the electoral college and that is what got Trump the victory.

I go back and forth on the Electoral College. I would like for it to be a hybrid where electoral votes are split by each state. While I get that the metro areas would control the election if it went popular vote style, as it stands now candidates focus all of their efforts in a handful of states. Another warning sign for us all should have been the vehement campaigning of Clinton and the POTUS the last couple weeks in the "battleground" states. They knew it was going to be challenge. They are probably less shocked than a chunk of the electorate.
November 9, 20169 yr Exit polls had it about 80/20. A serious question about this - when political polls on the front side are proven so wrong, why would we place trust in exit polls?
