November 9, 20169 yr Mrs. Clinton was one of the least electible candidates in the history of American politics, except she ended up running against an equally bad candidate. Any other republican candidate would have likely won easily but Trump got the nomination and Clinton had to be thrilled and confident. Being from a political machine, groomed for the job for many years, it should have been a slam dunk for Hillary after Trump became the opponent. I think the only person either Trump or Clinton could defeat was each other. So what happened? Was it the emails? Policy? The little guy voting against the establishment? A combination of things?
November 9, 20169 yr I think it is definitely a combination. Her corruptness combined with people tired of the system we currently have.
November 9, 20169 yr Something that doesn't get discussed much, but I'd be curious if the timing of everyone's health insurance premiums going up didn't factor in. Lots of people vote with their pocketbooks. But to really answer your questions, I believe its the corruption that surrounds her.
November 9, 20169 yr Number one ... people want a change in Washington and they don't care who does it. Trump's outlandish statement fed that desire. Number two ... baggage. In addition to being seen as part of Washington, Hillary had too much baggage.
November 9, 20169 yr I think she made multiple mistakes but perhaps her biggest was underestimating the level of dissatisfaction of the people she clearly loathed and then forgot about. Glittering endorsements and the east coast/west coast liberal machine do not represent the majority of voters in the country. Relying on specific "demographics" to carry a national election is a dicey proposition and she learned that lesson last night. When there are nothing but bad choices, the majority of people will go with whoever represents something different than what they have been experiencing, right, wrong or indifferent. She made assumptions concerning her power base that were incorrect, she offended an electorate that was choosing between poor options, and she was reckless in her personal dealings. Basically everything she called Trump out on. Glass houses.
November 9, 20169 yr Her downfall began when she became secretary of state. If she never becomes secretary of state. She doesn't have the email crisis, or some of the other things people questioned. If she was not secretary of state, she wins easily. So that is where her downfall began.
November 9, 20169 yr I think it is a combination of these things: people REALLY cared about her emails, they remember Benghazi, they hate her husband, they are pro-life, and they want lower taxes.
November 9, 20169 yr I think it's really telling that Hillary was the candidate who really tried to champion the middle class, but in the end the middle class buried her.
November 9, 20169 yr What was Hillary's biggest downfall? Barack Obama being President. Do you think Trump would've beaten Obama? I don't.
November 9, 20169 yr Do you think Trump would've beaten Obama? I don't. No, I don't. Purely my opinion here, but... Black people didn't get out and vote for Clinton like they did BO, and rural white Americans got out and voted for Trump more than they did for Romney.
November 9, 20169 yr What was Hillary's biggest downfall? Barack Obama being President. Disagreed. President Obama's approval rating is extremely high.
