Front page of the Enquirer this morning has OJ spending his last day at North College Hill yesterday and enrolling at Huntington High this morning. According to his comments to USA Today.

O.J. Mayo attended his last classes at North College Hill on Monday. When the bell rings today, he'll be in a whole new school.

 

Mayo told USA Today on Monday he'll transfer to Huntington (W. Va.) High and be in class there today.

 

"It's exciting to go home, but it's sad leaving North College Hill," Mayo told the paper. "I consider Cincinnati a second home."

 

At Huntington, Mayo joins a program that has won two straight West Virginia Class AAA (large school) state titles. Huntington returnees include West Virginia player of the year Patrick Patterson and fellow seniors-to-be Jamaal Williams and Michael Taylor, all longtime teammates and/or competitors with Mayo on the offseason AAU circuit.

 

"Arguably we have the best (high school) team in the nation," Mayo told USA Today.

Earl Woods had a child prodigy. He pushed and demanded excellence. Made choices that we probably wouldn't have agreed with at the time. He did this for the good of his son, not himself. The adults involved with OJ seem to make their interests a higher priority than him. Here's a thought, the basketball court may be the only place in this 18 year old boy's life that the decisions for his well being are his own. You hear a lot of athletes talk about the only place where everything is ok is on the field of competition. If that is the case with this young man, I hope that he never quits playing basketball. That being said the people making the decisions off the court are truly making this a circus. I think they are the source for ridicule not Mr. Mayo.

If he wants to leave NCH and enroll at HH, than best of luck to him and I would certainly enjoy watching him play basketball.

Excellent post, YAK, and so true. Maybe he will have some measure of peace in Huntington since he is known by many in the tristate area as a talented, polite, and likeable kid who grew up in the area rather than as a "celebrity" whom many wanted to exploit.

I hope that you are right scooter but I am afraid the last to or three years has tainted that. Tune in next week for the continuing soap opera or circus:sssh: or whatever one chooses to call it. Good luck to him, he is an incredible talent. Mama O.J. just may be one of the reasons for the circus. I don't know,imo there are plenty people that have contributed to that and you can't single out just one person at all. It is sad to say but all this has become a joke.

Let's see if his shenaigens continue here, if once he realizes he's not immune to the kind of things he's done in the past it may help him grow as a person.

I have enjoyed watching the youngman play from the time I saw him as a 6th grader (WOW) in an AUU tourney to last season at US BANK Arena where he put on show!!!!

 

I wish him nothing but the very best!! Wow, what a team they have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't Patterson favoring UK? Does this mean UK has any chance at OJ?

For UK to get OJ I;m afraid they would have to rehire a certain assistant and return the video footage to the handlers via UPS.
