Interesting that Rose Hill didn't try to boycott Boyd County last season when Owens just happened to drop in at the Home.

Maybe the adults on both sides should get out of the way and let the kids play a game. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I am not understanding why they don't play during the regular season either...:confused: Isn't it a little odd that they don't play a team within their district?? The game would definitely be competitive...They played twice in the regular season 2 years ago with Ashland winning by an average of 30+ points...What happened between then and now??? I can't buy the "principles" theory...Ashland welcomed an opportunity to play Lex Cath last year and they're playing Cov Cath this year...I guess Rose Hill gets their players by "hook or crook" while ALL of Lex Cath's and Cov Cath's players are "homegrown"...:sssh:

GIAT, to be fair, the HHS game was scheduled prior to OJ.

 

I agree with you about the other debate getting old. That is why I would like to see the powers that be at Ashland shut everyone up and schedule Rose Hill. Plus I think it would benefit the Cats come tourney time.

Believe me Im aware of when the HHS game was scheduled. I really have no opinion aboout scheduling RH. If the powers that be want to schedule RH fine with me, if they dont I also understand where they are coming from.

How long did OJ play in Kentucky? I get tired of reading about him. He has played in Ohio and West Virginia the better part of his career. Is he related to TO?

My point about playing HHS is that the crowd will come to see OJ first with the actual contest as an afterthought. Like it or not he is a novelty. High school basketball in this area has not had such a drawing card in the past and, most likely, won't for many years, if ever. Right or wrong, people were coming literally hundreds of miles to see him play when he was at Rose Hill and certainly when he was at NCH. Therefore, I don't think it matters who HHS actually plays on a given night. Maybe more Marooners will come to see Ashland play HHS than would attend another HHS game. However, the difference would be immaterial because others would probably prefer a more competitive game in which OJ had a bit more of a challenge.

 

Good to see BR549, GIAT, and T-CAT4LIFE analyzing the situation from their viewpoint. Several months ago, I posted that I thought it best for Ashland and Rose Hill to avoid each other unless matched in a tournament. I still have that position. If the truth is admitted, all concerned know that there is little congeniality and even less trust between the "powers" at the two schools. That fact is unlikely to change in the near future. OJ has been gone since April of 2003. However, the memories of the battles both on and off the court are obviously still strong. Also, with Rose Hill apparently being on the rise again and Ashland, to be honest, fairly leveled off, the sparks will probably be ignited rather than extinguished.

I am told that Rose Hill will vote to seed the district this coming Febuary just so the tcats will have to play.

I would think that Fairview would vote to draw with Boyd and the Hill voting to seed. That leaves the tcats. Would they vote to draw just to stay away from playing the Hill during the regular season. Then hope to draw away from them in March.
