OJ Mayo to Huntington High

Featured Replies

Sorry ScooterBob but you sound a little bit too excited about this. All along I thought you were just interested in what is good for these two kids ( OJ and Bill ) but now it seems like you're being a little selfish. This " kid " ( really a man ) and his whole entourage is a complete joke. And it is getting really old.

I'm glad he is back in WV so you guys have something to live for now. You speak so much about how Oj and Bill have been abused and taken advantage of by the schools. I think the two of them are getting their fair share of advantages as well. Quit feeling sorry for OJ and Bill they ask for alot of things they get and quit caring so much about kids that couldnt care less about you or anybody for that matter that doesnt have something to do with money.

Well, it is always satisfying to get confirmation of the truth of what you post. Uknowho1 has proven the points that I made in post #28 above. Thank you, uknowho1, for your testimony. It was spoken like a typical long distance observer who has no direct facts and who relies on heresay (all negative, of course) and personal prejudice for his opinions.

GIAT, OJ was consensus first team all state (Courier Journal, Herald Leader, etc.) as an eighth grader and consensus second team all state as a seventh grader.

I believe Huntington is scheduled to play Scott Co this year. I know I will be there. How many other KY teams does HHS play this year?

You heard it here first. It was just reported on WSAZ.
If it was just reported on WSAZ didn't we hear it there first?

While this case is the extreme, its not uncommon for high school kids to live with another family just to play b-ball for the school of their choice. We're seeing it at SK now, right?

If it was just reported on WSAZ didn't we hear it there first?

I believe since OJ the cashcow has moved in, the schedule for HHS will significantly change as GIAT has posted. I'd say that very soon you'll see the HHS team on ESPN much like Oden's was last season. Good for the kids from Huntington, they will get national exposure that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, regardless of how good Patterson is, or isn't according to some.

So is Huntington High now the #1 or #2 team in the country??

I don't know how they couldn't be top-5. I wonder when USAToday rankings initially come out?

According to WSAZ, HHS's starting lineup consists of five D-1 prospects. Not bad. I don't want to sound too "philosophical" but somehow his return to his home area to live at home and to play for what would be considered as his "home" school, is refreshing. Unlike NCH, HHS is a school with high principles and can be expected to handle matters in the best interests of all concerned.

I am pleased that OJ is home with his family. I am also pleased that NCH got part of what it so justly deserves. The only down side is that we'll never know for sure the full story at NCH.

Since he (O.J.) is back in Huntington now and it is fairly obvious that he will be in the NBA psssibly out of h.s., what does anyone think of the possibility of O.J. playing one year at Marshall and then make the jump to the NBA? I don't see him in the college game very long if at all. I just thought that since the NBA is probably more in his sights rather than playing college ball somewhere that he can win a national title that Marshall may be a possibility for just one year and then on to the NBA.

He has to go to college for atleast 1 year.

He has to go to college for atleast 1 year.

I think Rambler knows that and I hope he's correct and Mayo does attend Marshall for a year, and if I were on the Big Green Staff, I'd attend every game I could. I have my doubts about his Marshall possibility, but what a boost for that program if it were to happen. Something similar to the top H.S. football player coming there a few years back! Moss, I believe his name was!

He has to go to college for atleast 1 year.

That's what rambler said. One year at Marshall.

He has to go to college for atleast 1 year.

He doesn't have to go to college, he just can't play in the NBA.
