Good post, T-CAT and, to be honest, we are all rooting for Beach to make the Packers. It would be good for football in this area.

It would not only be good for football in this area but it would be a great thing for the Beach family. They are a great Christian family and deserve nothing but the best. The Character of Arlis Beach is a great lesson for all of our area youth to follow and the adults as well!!

Actually, GIAT, I beat you by one minute but who cares? It will be great for the tri-state. Does Ashland have HHS on its schedule and, if so, will HHS remain on Ashland's schedule?

 

Now that I think about it I bet HHS schedule will go through a MAJOR overhaul. Im sure they will be invited to play all over the country, so who knows what their schedule will look like. Honestly I would like to see us play them even though we would get killed. It would be fun to watch Mayo and Patterson.

Oh I agree that the whole OJ Mayo era, and the way his (and I use this term loosely) advisor's have handled his career, has been a sad display of how a lot of today's young stars are used for the benefit of others. I just didn't see how the governing body of West Virginia High School sports could rule him ineligible to play.

...as they said during Watergate," Just follow the money". Dollars to Donuts sez someone got paid big time to lure him to WV. But that's where he belonged in the first place. Good luck to the young man...and to the "leeches" surrounding him, well, there's a special place in Hades awaiting them!

I have to believe that this is much more a family decision than an entourage decision. Although OJ lives in South Point, he is finally home since he played his early school years in Huntington. He will be eligible in Huntington- as he should be. By the rules, if Huntington were in Kentucky, he would be eligible.

 

I see the loser in this as NCH. No one deserves to be the loser more than does NCH. From the facts, it appears that NCH and its representatives prostituted themselves to get Mayo, Walker, and Ellis. NCH made plenty of money from the arrangement but obviously looked to this senior year to reap the goldmine. All three boys are gone and, alas, there will be no goldmine. Maybe there is some small measure of justice on this earth after all.

so only OH has the 8 semester varsity rule? He is eligible in KY and WV? Not OH? Saga...circus...I don't know, but one thing for sure,,,it is CONFUSING.

I for one will make a trip or 2 to see him play at this close proximity. You can gripe about the entire ordeal, but he's the best basketball talent in the country and will be playing right close to home for us in eastern KY anyway. Heck, I would have gone to see Tyson fight if I had the opportunity, and he's the poster-child for conduct and extracurricular activity. Face it, in the end, his skill is what is awe-inspiring.

 

I suppose somewhere hereafter is when I will get preached at with regards to all that is wrong in high school athletics.

If you mean OJ, he's eligible in all states as far as I know. The 8 semester rule has nothing to do with varsity. Once you begin your FROSH year, you have 8 semesters of athletic eligibility. OJ has used 6 of those 8.

No whining here at all spindoc, he is the best h.s. player in the country. I agree. The story surrounding this kid and his moving around has been an absolute circus though. Good luck to him.

Sorry ScooterBob but you sound a little bit too excited about this. All along I thought you were just interested in what is good for these two kids ( OJ and Bill ) but now it seems like you're being a little selfish. This " kid " ( really a man ) and his whole entourage is a complete joke. And it is getting really old.

I'm glad he is back in WV so you guys have something to live for now. You speak so much about how Oj and Bill have been abused and taken advantage of by the schools. I think the two of them are getting their fair share of advantages as well. Quit feeling sorry for OJ and Bill they ask for alot of things they get and quit caring so much about kids that couldnt care less about you, their teammates, their school, their coaches or anybody for that matter that doesnt have something to do with money.
