Dont know if this is still the case but, I believe Scott County contract with Georgetown College states that they have to be done and out by midnight on Friday nights so that Georgetown can prepare for their teams events on Saturday. Remember when GC football teams are away the soccer teams are home.

I support Jim McKee and Scott County football. I remember Scott County football before Jim. I've worked like a dog as part of several strong staffs with good players, and never got to the state championship game in 30 years of coaching. Winning a 6A title is a huge accomplishment. I know how tough it is to stay in the same place for an extended period. From my perspective, Jim McKee is an outstanding football coach. He is probably too blunt and straight forward for a lot of people. That is one reason he and I are good friends. He tells you want he thinks. You don't have to read his mind or guess.

 

 

And, nothing on here will offend Jim. Lol.

1. How exactly are people selling that the team that was BEATING Lafayette is somehow "scared" of them?

 

2. Where was all this angst when 4A top dog Franklin Simpson went home at half, up 14-7 on Caldwell earlier this season?

Scott County must have had the unmitigated gall to win a 6A title once upon a time. That is the birthright of Louisville, and as such must not be tolerated.

The only way this becomes relevant is if either team finishes in a 3-way tie.

Because in spite of how the entire world views Scott Co, the athletic programs are terribly under-funded.

Football, Baseball, Girls Softball, Soccer, Lacrosse, and Tennis are all played at Georgetown College or on a Parks and Rec owned field.

 

Basketball, Volleyball and Track (1 track for the high school and 3 middle schools to share) are on school property.

 

It's pretty pathetic.

 

I don't see that changing any time in the near future. We're too busy wasting millions of dollars arguing over the details of a new high school.

 

What McKee has done is impressive - even if you don't like him. There's no denying that a 6A state championship won while sharing a practice field with the middle school team, and the soccer teams is quite an accomplishment.

The Henry Clay/Knox Central game in Lexington was called, due to lightning, just before 10 pm. last night.

 

They finished the first half tied at 7. The second half never began.

 

The game was ruled a tie.

I have heard that the new super is going to put turf on the practice field shared by all those teams. That will be a big help for all those teams.

But there will be many in the community that will say "too much money goes toward athletics"

Maybe Toyota can kick in some cash for a football field.

Not sure there is a time when games have to be completed by. Fleming County and Harrison County finished around 1:30 am a few years ago. Both teams have to agree on a make-up time and Harrison County was determined not to have to come back another day.

Daughter was on Georgetown's track team. They had to use Scott County's track for practice, as GC doesn't have one.

 

Strange circumstances. College football facility without a track; high school track without a football facility.
