Daughter was on Georgetown's track team. They had to use Scott County's track for practice, as GC doesn't have one.

For years Mason County had a 300-meter track behind the elementary school; their football field doesn't have a track. They recently built a regulation track at the new intermediate school, soccer is played inside it.

Inside the track is the practice field I mentioned. The rumor is that the new super is going to put turf there so it can hold up to all the practices that happen on it.

There is not enough room to put bleachers there. It bumps up to Rt. 25 on one side and Scott Co Middle on the other.

Doesnt surprise me at all.

Two questions:

 

1. How exactly are people selling that the team that was BEATING Lafayette is somehow "scared" of them?

 

2. Where was all this angst when 4A top dog Franklin Simpson went home at half, up 14-7 on Caldwell earlier this season?

 

My understanding is that FS and Caldwell agreed to accept the halftime score as final without resuming play. Apparently Scott Co. and Lafayette had no such agreement. Same as if 2 teams agree to shorten the remaining quarters in a game, all it takes is the agreement of the 2 head coaches. The FS-Caldwell result is odd because the game was still close. Caldwell could have forced the issue and made FS stay until the storm was over or come back the next day or forfeit, but they didn't.

Why doesn't a school the size of Scott County have a football field?

 

For some reason athletic facilities are a mess in SC.

 

That is one reason the second school is on hold.

 

There were no plans for athletics there.

So two schools but all athletics would be under Scott County? That sounds like it's all in the best interest of the Athletics, and not the school itself. What would McKee do if he had to compete with another school in his county? He has it made.

At one time there was talk of the second high school having their own athletic teams but sharing facilities. That idea is no longer on the table. When the new high school is built it will have its own facilities (supposedly)

Maybe Toyota can kick in some cash for a football field.

Why play?

I find this rather interesting this game could not be finished at another school this morning or afternoon. I'm assuming this is about money that would need to be paid for another venue other than Lafayette?

I think it has a lot more

to do with arrogance on SC's part and it backfired lol. I love this story!
