I can see the possiblities of this happening next year. Raceland wants it, Russell fans want it. GREAT gate money for both schools- standing room only.. and yes a STRONG possibility, lets hope and see.

I have not heard anything as of late but there was discussion of Raceland moving to 2-A. This would place them in the dist. with Prestonsburg,Morgan Shelby Valley, & Bath. I would like to see this and the game with Russell would bring back a rival of long ago. This would involve less travel than the Rams are now accustomed to.

I have heard the same thing also cville, but the talk on that has kind of died down. I also hope that the Rams go to AA, I have been wanting that for quite a few years now, and what I call for and a dollar will get you a double cheeseburger at McDonalds.:D :lol: As for the Russell game becoming a reality, it would be a GREAT $$$$ gate and revive some memories of an old rivalry for a lot of us old guy has beens :eek: . I would like to see it if it happens but like I have said in another thread it has been talked about for years and by now I really don't care if they play or not. When I was wanting the game so bad would had been the possibility of West C. moving to A, they play in class A in basketball but not football??? Then have Raceland move up to AA in that district then they would have had to play and it would be a district game also. This was a district that imo Russell and Raceland would have been in the top two or three every year. I also belive that Raceland would had faired a lot better in the first couple of playoff rounds in that AA region. You know what "if and buts" means though.

Even though it has been talked about forever I would like to see it happen. We used to have some tough battles in the 70's and there is one I would like to forget. The funny thing is I became friends with the brother of the guy that kicked the winning FG.

It would generate a lot of money for the schools and would give us something to talk about. If we move to 2-A we may see them come playoff time.

Is the KHSAA still allowing people to move up?? I read in the article that they accepted some requests & denied others so I wasn't sure if there was a deadline...

 

Even if Raceland moves to 2A, Russell is 3A under he new set up so it will have to be a non-district game...We'll just have to wait & see what happens...

You are correct!!! Oh well, I enjoyed the thought for a few minutes anyhow!!!

I had already started to sharpen the chainsaw to cut wood so we could have a pep rally!! I gues I will also have to cancel the order of the firetruck escort.:lol:

A regular season game would be great. I made a lot of friends with some of the former Russell players that I played against. It would be fun to hash it out with them for a week.

Didn't Raceland lose to the #3 out of that AA district last year?

I believe that they did FBALL, what is you rpoint?/ Wouldn't that be the equivelant of Russell losing to Boyd Co. last year? I may be wrong but I believe that Boyd was #3 or maybe #2 in that AAA district. Seems to be about the same to me. I was just stating an opinion on how I thought that Raceland would do in that district. Seems to me that for someone who's team is supposed to be so much on a level above a team you sure are concerned with how they do:sssh: . Your post are just one example of why I don't really care if Raceland/Russell play or not. I could just imagine the post on here if there was actually a game between the two. Like I said. Seriously guys, what's the point in this thread other than to create or perpetuate bad blood between Russell & Raceland?? I know that probably isn't the intent & we can speculate all we want but, for whatever reason, it seems to always go to this...Let's just wait & see what happens with the schedules & then we can discuss it...

 

The banter between posters from both schools on here this year does tell me one thing...If this rivalry was to get re-started, there would be none more heated in the state of KY...
