Belfry vs Ashland

Featured Replies

That 1-A team you mentioned is now ranked at #10.:thumb:

Because of their win Friday! Ok, Ashland couldn't beat the 10th ranked team and Befry beat the #1 rank 1A team. My point is still standing.

Even though its in Putnam Stadium, I have to take Belfry in this one. Belfry beat arguable the favorite to win the 1A title this year while Ashland lost to a solid but no where near NCC caliber team. As someone already said, Belfry's strength is Ashlands weakness and that is where this game will be decided, in the trenches. My prediction:

Belfry: 21

Ashland: 14

DING!! DING!! DING!!! Tell JC Alumni 76 what he's won today!!!!!!!:D :D

Didnt the Boyd County Lions beat the might Russell Red Devils last season. You cant base future games one previous ones. Like Ive said before, any team can beat another on any Friday night. Belfrys coming off a win and Ashland a loss, But IMHO this game is still completly up for grabs. Belfry will be Belfry, and Ashland is out to set a poor start right. Should be a great contest.

Anticipating a Battle,

Yoter

This Ashland team is better than they have shown so far. If they get their act together they could have a successful year. But, they have a lot of proving to do.

Sometimes a loss is good for a team – IF it motivates them to do better. Maybe this is a team that needs to be shocked into action. Russell lost to lowly regarded Boyd Co. last year and went on to have a great season. I’m not saying this team can do the same. However, one win or one loss does not make a season.

I’m waiting to see how this team responds to their opening game loss. Will they come out with their tails tucked between their legs – or hungry and mean, with something to prove?

If they don’t come out ready to play some serious ball; they’re going to get beat – again.

Russell and Belfry both lost to Boyd Co. teams they should have beaten on their state title runs.

Ashland and Belfry are 2 of the more tradition rich programs East of Lexington. Both of these teams have alot of talent and ALOT of pride. I think Belfry's style will hurt Ashland since the Pond Creek Nation is so physical up front. They have a couple of dynamite backs in May & Chapman. Ashland is always a little more flash than physical, but I'm not sure they have enough flash to slow down the Pirates. In the end Belfry will be alot better than Raceland, and if Raceland can run the ball on you you know Belfry will.

Belfry: 35

Ashland: 14

How many rushing yard did Raceland have against Ashland?

How many rushing yard did Raceland have against Ashland?

less than 100, so you can obviously expect Belfry to bang out 100!

I didn't know how many. I didn't think that they were tremendously effective on the ground even with the diversity of having a quality passing attack. Total offense for them was actually less that Ashland I think. Special teams is where the game was won. Ashland got called for a penalty or they were up 9-0 and Raceland had two great returns, one for 6. Football is a funny game. I don't think that Ashland has any kids that are capable of breaking a long one, they will have to be very discipline and learn to finish drives with points if they are to be competitive.

Russell and Belfry both lost to Boyd Co. teams they should have beaten on their state title runs.
