Belfry vs Ashland

Featured Replies

Ashland's defense played pretty solid against Raceland. Look for a low scoring game in this one.

I'm going to agree with T Cat 72 on this one. Ashland......has some talented players.......but are trying to find their identity right now. With the loss of a key player and leader from last year in Ian Holbrook it will take time to adjust. In a few weeks they will be a much better team. I do believe that this game will in no way be a blow out as some one here say, and I think Ashland can win, if they make some strides in their improvement and play like they are capable of playing.

Belfry 20-7.

This will be a heck of a game, it's hard to pick a winner....

I'm going out on a limb and saying..

Ashland 24

Belfry 27

Yea, I think it will be a real close game with Belfry coming out on top.

Ashland: 22

Belfry: 24 :ylsuper:

Belfry by a blowout.

Ordinary people do some extraordinary things sometime...

No secret here , whoever controls the line of scrimmage wins. Red Army will want hand to hand - trench warfare. #20 LB/RB for Belfry was very good last year as a soph.

If Ashland falls into this trap they are toast. Ashland has to pass effectively to beat the Pirates. Doesn't mean big plays , effective passing is enough to keep the backers , corners and safties honest. Ashland should be able to do this if they will roll the QB and dink and dunk. ( Brown to Horn )

But at some point , Ashland will have to man up and run it right at the Army. Fields (guts and glue) and 42 can do this. Others on Ashland have no chance based upon the Ironton and Raceland contests. If Ashland backs hesitate when contact comes the Pirates will smell blood in the water and Tomcats will be walking a short plank likely to 0-3 ....

The Tomcats have the talent to win this one , and I want them to win .... It's very hard for me to think Ashland puts all this together in one week ( but they have the talent). Nothing but respect for the Red Army .... They are well coached and play physical football which for high school kids is all about mindset. Belfry has it , Ashland doesn't - at this point ...

Still thinking , wonder how Bonner is ?

I couldn't agree more, I think I know who you are talking about? IMO, He is a tremendous athlete and a great kid, but should not be running out of the backfield! Hopefully the coaches will finally see this (after two yrs) an give someone else a chance back there? I would like to see them in the Wish Bone with Davis, Cordle and Mcleod in the backfield!

Hmmm man.. this thread sound like a lot of upset Ashland fans want to see some changes

I personally feel that is the very wrong thing to do.

Ashland’s defense did a good job the real let down was the punt team.

Ashland Offence also played better than it had in any previous scrimmage, after the first quarter they started moving the football and seem to be getting on track.

It was the red zone play that needed work. Ashland refused to pass the ball once in the red zone which didn’t keep the Raceland defense honest.

If we see a bunch of changes instead of better red zone offence Belfry will hand Ashland their second loss.. If they build on what they have, and quit starting over then we may see a better football team on the field.

Play selection in the red zone was poor. Over all Ashland play didn’t reflect the score.

Build on what you have:

Ashland 21

Belfry 14

Move a bunch of players

Ashland 7

Belfry 28

Trimmer

Luke Bonner will be out for another 2-4 weeks. His MRI came back better than expected and will start rehab today. He should be back for district play if not sooner.

Great news! If not the first, hopefully he'll be back for your second trip to Johnson Central!

Good news for a good kid - Luke Bonner .... this news is way more important than Ashland and Belfry.... Hope he doesn't rush back to the field , if ever ... High School Football just isn't that important , rest of your life with two good knees is ...

Im really glad Luke will be OK. I was worried that his opportunity at a college scholarship would be lost.
