Belfry vs Ashland

Featured Replies

In my opinion Belfry's D might just win this game for them, I agree the Offense will come around, but Belfry's D was impressing this past friday night against NCC.

Tomcatsalute said it in another thread and I heard it from SEVERAL "die hard" Tomcat fans last Friday, Ashland is not very good right now...Some of the other comments I heard from those "die hards" were: "Worst team since Hart's been here", "It's gonna be a looong season", "We can't tackle" just to name a few...I really don't think they'll be saying that later in the season...They just have to make some choices and go with them...

Looking back on the Raceland game, Ashland did some good things...They out stated Raceland and held their "highly touted" QB to 5-10 passing for 87 yards...That's pretty good but that doesn't win games...Raceland didn't man handle Ashland & honestly, Ashland very easily could have won that game...Hart took the blame for some play calling in the Red Zone which is what good coaches do, & a useless block in the back on Thomas' punt return killed Ashland...

With that being said, I think Belfry will be too quick & physical for the Tomcats to really unleash their running game...They will have to go to the pass & from all reports, Belfry did a great job on pass happy NCC...

I do think Ashland will play better this week and I hope they win, but Belfry will be MUCH better than Raceland...

Belfry - 28

Ashland - 14

I know absolutely nothing about Belfry but after watching Ashland on Friday it is difficult for me to pick them. I do believe that Leon Hart will make good adjustments and Ashland will perform better.

It appears Ashland's offense struggled to get anything done against Raceland. Ashland's rush offense was one of their problems last year. If they can't get a ground game going against Belfry, then I take Belfry.

BELFRY PIRATE- POND CREEK NATION- 48

ASHLAND- 10

BELFRY- TOO STRONG

ASHLAND- STILL RECOVERING

I sure hope Ashland can improve in just one week. I really don't think you can correct enough to prevail over an always ready to run it down your throat Belfry team. I'm rooting for Ashland but just don't think it will happen. Oh well what do I know I picked Ashland over Raceland.

Belfry 35

Ashland 13

I have a hard time picturing Belfry putting up 35 or 40 points right now. The offense has a load of potential, but they're still working out the best way to reach it. Maybe they'll break out this week. But I see Ashland being much better than they showed this week and they will be a tough game in Putnam.

Belfry by a TD in a game that is very close throughout...

Belfry 21

Ashland 14

Watusi is very wise. Belfry won't be clicking it week 4 IMO. (just in time to get after Pikeville) Ryan Preston (Qb) is essentially growing into a high school Qb during varsity action. Once he can relax, the offense will hit their groove.

That said, the o-line should be ready to show everyone they can get the job done. I saw McCoy letting everyone have it at one time this past Friday.

Belfry - 23 Ashland - 16 / I agree with cvillecat in that Ashland will be ready this week. I just think that Belfry will be a little too physical for them at this point. Lets Go Tomcats........Prove me wrong, Please! :thumb:

Ashland's weakness is Belfry's strength. Belfry should control the line of scrimmage and the ballgame.

Belfry 28

Ashland 7

I dont really know if Ashland's offense struggled. They out gained Raceland by a good margin. But I will say that their red zone offense was nothing short of pathetic.

I mean no disrespect, but is Ashland really seen as soft?

I guess some people may think so, but its really hard to judge any team during week 1. For what its worth, I thought Ashland played just as physical as Raceland.
