June 23, 201610 yr Account of officers being ordered (by someone they can not recall) to hold and not engage though they were there in minutes. ‘I grabbed my assault rifle and ran’: An officer’s account of the critical early minutes in Orlando - The Washington Post Though Cornwell said he cannot recall exactly how he received his orders — whether via the radio or in person — his clear understanding was that he and his fellow officers were to hold their position rather than attempt to go into the bathroom after the shooter. .... At some point during the 15 to 20 minutes — it is unclear exactly when — Cornwell and the others in the group of first responders exited the club, he said. “We got word from higher up, and it was communicated to the OPD lieutenant that we needed to withdraw,” he said. “So we came back outside. And waited for SWAT. SWAT arrived. SWAT handled everything from there.” It seems a little odd that police officer who would have had to do a post-incident report would not know who or how they received an unusual order or what time they withdrew from a key tactical position.

Bullets are flying, blood is pumping, gun fire is loud, nerves are all wired out. You just do what you are told to do at the time. I can understand the confusion on a post incident report. Have you not seen when they show a video to 5 people and ask what went on, what color the shirt was, etc? 5 different answers.
June 23, 201610 yr My sister, an ICU nurse manager, told me one of the the ICU nurses attended her nephew's funeral last week. He was one of the Orlando victims. Sad.
June 24, 201610 yr Orlando Gunman Purchased Plane Tickets for After Shooting So the dude was on the no fly list but purchased tickets to the West coast for 2 days after the shooting? Shooter wasn't on the no fly list. He was on the terror watch list which is different than no fly list but was removed when they found nothing. He bought his guns and plane ticket with no problem.
June 24, 201610 yr The official timeline on this is really baffling. I know it is tin foil hat crazy talk to question these mass shootings but some stuff really doesn't make sense here. Add in the kid from Indiana who called police in California the same morning to be protected from the CIA and I'm close to getting my hat ready.
June 30, 201610 yr Why haven't we heard anything about another club shooting in Spartanburg, SC called "Playoffz?" Maybe because a CCW person inside stopped it? Some of the answers are out there if we want to use them.

Sounds like two drunks in a bar get in a fight and one has a gun and starts shooting at the other guy. Sounds more like a case where guns and alcohol don't mix.
June 30, 201610 yr Was this really an attempted mass shooting?? Sounds like two drunks in a bar get in a fight and one has a fun a starts shooting at the other guy. Sounds more like a case where guns and alcohol don't mix mix. This. The only similarities between the two incidents is they were both at a nightlife establishment. Not even close to the same thing.

If he would have been successful in killing 4 people or more, we both know it would have been labelled a mass shooting and we would have heard more gun ban prattle.

Well quite honestly, this is more of a case of why guns shouldn't be allowed in bars. This doesn't help the gun rights cause in any way, and is a better example of why not everyone should be able to own a gun.

I also think if that guy didn't have a CW, we would have had more shot and some killed. In this one case, looks like a guy who knew he wouldn't be protected gambled and won. I also think it shows why CC saves lives.
June 30, 201610 yr Definitely a shootout of drunks. I'll be interested to see how the law treats this guy.
