swamprat
Went to my first Clearwater Threshers (Phillies Advanced A) game of the season last night. They had a clock behind the plate and one in the outfield. It appears they are limiting the time between innings and when pitching changes are made to 2 minutes and 25 seconds. The pitcher is being given 15 seconds to go into his wide-up. Also, mound visits were timed, 10 seconds for the catcher, and 30 seconds for a manager/coach. Seemed strange. Has anybody heard about this experiment? The game ended 4-3 Threshers in 8 and 1/2. It took right at 2 hours to complete.
gchs_uk9
SEC does this, I believe. Not sure about the rest of the NCAA.
Jumper_Dad
Just like weeding tobacco out of MLB started in the Minors, speeding the game up is starting down there also. Teaching hitters and pitchers to work at a faster pace until it becomes natural. At some point a faster pace will reach the Big Leagues.
