9th Region: Is this true?

Featured Replies

All the region data is on the KHSAA site. Bottom line is that 9th Region is guaranteed $65,000 and it often ends up being more than that. The arena is located in an area that is accessible from two Interstates.

The atmosphere for NCC/Dixie final was just like being in a high school gym but better since so many people could see it. I believe that year the Girls final preceded the Boys. And Sydney Moss actually was on the losing team so you saw something that was very rare. Same for the atmosphere for the Holmes vs CovCath games and the NCC vs CovCath games. CovCath students cheering directly led to NCC bricking from the foul line. You should have been there.

Z, your opinion is, I'm sure, shared by MANY folks in NKY that want high school sports to be an inexpensive outing for families (and fathers and sons, in your example), and in some cases, sadly, it isn't. I get that. Your posts are always solid and on-point, that is why you should post more often. You add a lot to the conversations.

You're right, the roof is rarely lifted in these regional tourneys, although I will say last year's CovCath / NewCath game at BB&T was as loud and feisty as any game I've heard in that building, and the atmosphere was great. Not every game is that way, to be sure.

I just looked up old threads about this arena. This one is really telling about the problems. It had a different name as well?

Number 1, I'm an Oldham County fan, not Owen County. If you had read my posts you would have known it.

Number 2, I've seen a lot of snarky comments by you toward other posters. You seem to have some I'm better than you mentality because you like Covington Catholic in many of them.

Number 3, if ONE person is complaining in this thread, there are 20 or 30. NOT ME. I ASKED A QUESTION ABOUT SIGNS IN THE ARENA NOT BEING ALLOWED.

What I have discovered is there are a number of people up your way who are not happy with the regional being in said arena. If you disagree, fine.

1. I've read every post you've made. The vast majority of them were Carson / Owen related.

2. I'm sorry I've come across that way to you, wasn't my intention. I do try and have fun in a lot of posts, many of which at or to people that are friends of mine. However, if I've come across like I'm better than someone else than I'm doing this all wrong. Hopefully most on here understand that but if not, I need reevaluate how I post.

3. Yes, you started with signs, but you broadened your criticisms quickly. You have to see how it rings hollow never having been there. I posted directly to Z about his post so as not to cast a wide net and catch the wrong fish.

Bank of KY was bought by BB&T (National Bank) hence the name change.

2008 at Conner the ticket revenue was $40,000. Teams divided 30,000.

2014 at NKU arena was $132,000. Schools split $72,000. NCC got a check for $14,400 for two teams advancing deeply. Boone Co that only had 1 team qualify and lost in first round got $2,400.

BTW in 2013:

8th region Girls schools got $633 each. Boys got $2904 each.

9th region Girls and Boys schools get equal shares and a share is based on how far teams advance.

NCC was the only school to get just 1 share which was for $2333.

Holmes got 5 shares for $11,666 which was the most. The other schools were between $4,666 and $9,333

Boo hoo. If you don't like the prices or the atmosphere, stay home.

Very ugly reply for someone seriously wanting some info. Slightly elitist also. :greedy:

Yes, they did turn people away at Conner, Holmes, and Ryle when the Regionals were held those gyms.

Anybody else find it funny the guy with the "Free trial" is talking about getting ripped off.

Some of you must be posters on the Wrestling forum, your post are identical to the Horse Park post.

Boo hoo to you too. If you don't like my posts, a guide can certainly tell how to ignore them.

Perhaps it's already been mentioned, but what region are the officials from who are calling the 9th Region Tournament?

The 9th Region refs are presently calling the 11th Region Tourney.

IMO the only problem with it being at NKU is the traffic. 20 minutes to get from the highway to the parking garage is a little long, but it would be the same at Ryle, Holmes, and Conner.

I thought this "guy" was permitted to post opinions on an opinion board even though it was the free trial period? My opinion is its too expensive having the games at NKU. It does keep me from attending some nights. And I prefer the games at Holmes.

You work for the arena, or imply you do. Your opinion means nothing if that is the case. And there are lots of people on here saying the prices and arena is BAD!

Yet those same people are still attending year after year...

They are 10th Region refs

Do you know where the 11th region refs went?
